SoundClick artist: Def1nition - Soulful, jazzy, electronic, eclectic

This page contains some tracks by me that artists are using, and tracks I just think sound good and people should hear. I perform on drums, and play keyboard and guitar in the studio for tracks. All Definition Tracks are produced and written by me, all instruments on tracks are played by me, with the exeption of bass on some tracks played by my brother. Most of my tracks on this page are hip-hop, some R&B, and some electronica. Haven't been to this site in awhile so I've just put up some new tracks all the other trcks were done about 4 years ago.

Why this name?

Since music is an extension of me I want people to know me without talking to me, just listening to my music. Ussaully people attempt to describe the way their music sounds through their bandname, I'm not telling people what to expect, my music defines itself.

Do you play live?

I mainly play drums with various groups, Tour sometimes.

How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?

Record Labels feel as though the internet is hurting sales. The internet is helping independent artists such as myself to get heard.

Would you sign a record contract with a major label?

If it's a good deal yes but under most circumstances no. Anyone who's doing well enough to catch a labels attention can probably make more money on their own or with an indie.

Your influences?

,My biggest influences are artists like Miles Davis, Charlie Parker, John Coltrane, Herbie Hancock, Wayne Shorter, Ornette Coleman, Donny Hathaway, Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, Sun Ra, Donald Byrd. I am influenced by hip hoppers closer to my peer group such as Jay-Dilla, Quetlove, Pete Rock, Mad Lib, Hi Tek, The Neptunes, NERD. The music on my site sounds most like thier stuff. I'm influeced by Electronica artists such as Squarepusher,Musiq, New Deal, 4 hero. All of these artists inspire what I create to a certain extent.

Favorite spot?

My Studio, The throne on my Drum set.

Equipment used:

I use a Sonor Force drum kit, a TAMA Rock Star kit, a Epithone guitar, Roland JX305 keyboard, Ensoniq EPS16 keyboard, ASRX Sampler, Akai MPC 2000, Goldwave sound editing, and SF Acid loop software.
