J. J. RAWLINGS is a multitalented new breed of Recording Artist combined with excellent industry proven skills in record production and writing. Born Jacob Joshua, in Ekiti State, Nigeria, he grew up in a home filled with music. Since the age of ten, J. J. has performed in dance competitions hosted by local radio and television stations in Owerri, Nigeria with a focus on expanding his knowledge in the fields of singing, writing and record production. After graduating from High School, he moved to Lagos, Nigeria to further develop his talent as a songwriter, producer and an artist. J.J.'s musical style comprises of modern R&B and hip hop/reggae with an ever so presence of sounds and treatments of his native land. This blend of musical sounds and treatments becomes a fresh, new, and different approach and delivery of today's musical scene. His songs express different interactions in human life such as love, emotions creativity and passion. While in Lagos's, he performed in numerous TV shows such as, PARTY AT NIGHT on channels 7, 8, & 10. He also performed on Onyeka Onwenu show called "WHO IS ON ," winning 1ST PRIZE. Youth Scene; Africa Jamboree; constantly improving and perfecting his ability to project his delivery and his image in front of a camera. During this period of J. J.'s career he also performed at The Coca-Cola Show; Apapa Amusement Park; and became a member of PMAN ( Performing Musicians Association of Nigeria), where he won the Interstate dance Competition Award.
In 1997 J. J. moved to the United States to continue his education in Premedical Studies at Georgia Perimeter College, But through it all his devotion to his art form would always take priority. He has performed throughout the USA and Canada, including appearances at The Club Kanya, and Club 112, both located in Atlanta Ga. One of the many highlights in this period of J. J.'s career was an appearance at The Convention Hall in Atlanta, Georgia with the group OUTKAST with over 6000 in attendance. He would also make an requested appearance at the Miss Atlanta Pageant at the World Famous Underground also located in Atlanta, Georgia. Because of his growing local popularity in Georgia, he was then inducted into the GMA (Georgia Music Association). In 2002; J.J would also perform at the first Miss Nigeria Pageant at Riaton Hall, Atlanta, GA. In a consistent effort to expand his fan base, he decided to move to Virginia where he would be asked to perform at the AFREM Festival, Norfolk VA. with the artist called "MUSIQ" before a crowd of 7,000 plus. J. J. Rawlings is on a mission. A mission to gain as much exposure as humanly possible and to reach as many people with his message and music as his resources will allow. Rawlings is a force to be reconed with, when they both made the TOP TEN CHARTS in Australia; UK; France; World beat Radio, Tokyo Japan; and gained heavy radio rotation in Johannesburg South Africa. J. was seen on BET, MTV, African Planet Radio TV/Houston, TX., and today J. J. continues to receive recognition performing in clubs "Kool Running," Mitzy's, Zem Temple, in the Virginia area.
