*London Calling Online*
Why this name?
It's a nod to Joe Strummer and The Clash. It also sums up our mentality that the world is waiting for us...London Calling. Other than that..it just sounded cool and it gets us noticed.
Do you play live?
We do dates all over the place. See our website or bio to find out more.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
Well, if you are reading this and checking out our music..then that's one change from a few years ago.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Yes, that's the goal..we need the marketing machine behind us to fully expose our music to the masses.
Band History:
LONDON CALLING was formed in December of 2002. The band includes Ex Guardian (Word/Epic) member Jamie Rowe on Vocals and Guitar, Former members of The Frantics: Jon Gilbert on Guitar and Piano, Matthew Martin on Bass, and Drummer Derek D. Sorrells (who moonlighted on a tour with Roadrunner Recording artists Johnny Q. Public). London Calling released their 13 track debut "The New Sensation" on June 23, 2003 .The band is looking to play everywhere they can...gaining new fans all along the way!! Based near "cover band central" Evansville, Indiana. The band plays primarily in areas that support original music. They have shared the stage with Days Of The New, Local H, Gigalo Aunts, Enuff Z' Nuff, Third Day, The 88, and Faster Pussycat to name a few. Venues have included diverse joints like the ultra-trendy Los Angeles clubs The Knitting Factory and Spaceland, New York City's mega cool Tribeca Rock Club, and even Paramount's King's Island Amusement Park in Ohio!
With a style that is best refered to as "Explosive Pop", the self-proclaimed King Of Bands is all about the good things in life. "We are a very optimistic band", says Derek, "Our musical mission is to create songs that will not bring you down or depress you." Adds Matthew, "We all like the same kinds of bands so our common influences tend to shine through LONDON CALLING. I think others will love this band as much as I do!" Influences in the music recall modern rock bands such as Fountains of Wayne, American Hi-Fi, Sugarcult, and Lit while still giving a serious nod to bands of yesterday such as Cheap Trick or The Sweet.

LONDON CALLING has plans to do big things. If the starting points have been so remarkable, We can't wait to see where the band ends up!
