SONICA is a five piece prog rock band, formed in March 2000. Every new band needs a comparison - so here is mine… Tool meets Black Sabbath meets Portishead meets Faith No More… Sonica is lead by a strong female vocalist, driven by intense high energy guitar, woven around layers of loops, samples, noises, old analogue keyboards and driven by big arena style drums. This band has what it takes to make it big.
Why this name?
It just felt right!
Do you play live?
We've played 100+ shows all over western Canada. Recently we've had quite a bit of interest in Europe.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It changes everything! It takes the music business
(on some levels) away from the major corporations. It is only a matter of time before some complete unknown sells a signifigant number of albums without major label support.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Never say never!
