If you know me, or of me, this is the spot to hear what I got. Updated monthly.
Why this name?
It evolved from my grafitti name as my ego grew, from Sine, to Sine, the Wicked One Sine 89, Pimp Daddy Sine TWO, the Mighty SIne, Da Mighty Sine, Dread Mighty Sine.
Do you play live?
I play live - mostly in the DC/MD/VA area, but I've played WA, CA, IL, PA, IN, RI, MA, ME, NY, UK planning an east coats tour with Seel Fresh, Flex Mathews & Tamu for Summer.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It's making the big wigs nervous definately. If cats start refusing to get pimped by these multi-billion dollar cmpanies altogether, then we will be back to getting music we choose to like, rather then brainwashed into thinking that there is a such thing as the 'hot sound'.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Yeap. But they probably wouldn't sign me. I know to much and consider the music MINE. So a company and I could share in the profits-publishing, masters, etc...but you ain't going to give me a hella big-ass budget then tell me when, how and what to do with it. If I don't re-coup then I owe you more money than I've ever made in life? F*** that. If you sign me you sign exactly what I say you're signing. Don't sign me on looks, and marketablity as you see it, or I'm not for it.
Band History:
The Dread Mighty Sine has been killing underground Hip Hop scenes since the tender age of 12-where he made loose change breaking on cardboard boxes; rhyming on CTA trains. Sine progressed from this stage to the early ninties Chicago heavyweight, invited to join the crews which spawned giants like Akbar, Rhyme Fest, J.U.I.C.E. and others. Continuing to hone his chops at venues such as the Elbo Room, Club UN, Buddah Bar in Chicago, at the Roxy & The Western Front in the Boston area, and currently seen regularly in the DC Hip Hop scene at steadfast showcases such as True Skool, H.E.R., & KRUNK Saturdays. Sine has performed with talents such as Tribe, Common, Del, Twista, Eminem, The Liks, & Shadowman Boogie. His production ranges from early nineties hip hop styles to the midwests' more melodic, bass-heavy sound. A proven MC, currently working with the Winternett Kru at the new ZIION (http://www.winternett.com) friday nights at Club U-Turn MCing this Mashup/Junglist weekly in DC. Sine moves forward with his heavy Mashup D&B tunes, true dance-floor rippers as well as his Hip Hop bangers. Sine is the artist to be for 2004.
