aSHARDofHOPE was born in Jan. 2002 when founder Bray Jones was cast out of the band he was in for artistic differences. For the next year Bray studied many different instruments and taught himself how to record. He developed a recording studio called NeXt eXit Studios. Bray began to make music once the studio was thought up. He spent the remainder of the year diving into dangerous parts of his soul, digging up memories and tortured thoughts that brought aSoH's music to life.

Now in 2005, aSHARDofHOPE is back with new styles and melancholy to bring to the masses. Armed with a new very talented band; Bray Jones (Vocals, Guitar), Melissa Bickford (Bass), Tim Hall (Guitar), and James Haining (Drums), are turning the page on gothic rock and making it more gruesome and bloodier than ever before.

Listen...it's all in the words!
Why this name?
Originally the band's name was SHARD, but after a search of band names it turned out that another band was already named SHARD. Fortunately enough, the web site for SHARD was, www.shardofhope.com, so naturally the band became A SHARD OF HOPE, witch seems to fit the bands personality a lot batter than SHARD ever did...
Do you play live?
In the near future we hope to!
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
The .mp3 has given small bands such as a Shard of Hope such opportunity that could never have been dreamed of even 10 years ago. We feel very privileged to be in the times right now as far as music is concerned. There is a shifting in the music industry and we just hope to be on the winning end when all is said and done. Our opinion on .mp3 file sharing is...If you like the band, go buy the album and support the band. If you like just one song, well download it. It has nothing to do with how much money they make off the CD because in all reality the record labels are making the most of the CD. It has to do with making sure that the bands we love don't disappear! So support your favorite bands and they’ll keep on bringing the music!
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Depending on how much freedom we have to do our art...yes... However, we don't want some jerk-off telling us what or whom we should sound like. We’re artists, as we all are here... We should have the freedom to do our art.
