Hi, we're Set Aside. We set this page in hopes of getting our music out to a wider audience. Please keep checking back as we will be adding new songs as we get them recorded in the studio. Also, we'll have revolving pictures from time to time to check out. As always though, our own website is the best source for the latest information on our music and where we'll be playing next. Stay tuned...
Why this name?
Cuz it sounded cool, and Strung Out was already taken.
Do you play live?
YES! We've been playing shows since September of 2003. So far we've only played locally in our hometown of Denver, CO - venues include The Gothic Theatre, The Aztlan, Blue Mule, Eck's Saloon, Rev's, and Larimer Lounge, and the occasional house party just for fun! We love playing live and sharing our music we work so hard to create with others!!!
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It helps people have MORE ACCESS to the music THEY WANT TO HEAR! Instead of being force fed "what's hot" at the moment on tv (MTV), you have the option of looking for music that fits your taste and style. You have more freedom! That's what music is all about, freedom of expression, why not have the freedom to to choose what you listen to as well?! People downloading music effecting music sales is BS! People buy more music once they've downloaded some songs online because they know they're buying something good before wasting their money on crap.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Yes, we definitly would. If it means getting our music out to a bigger audience who appreciates it just as much as we do, what's not to want about it? Plain and simple yo.
Band History:
Chris B., Brian, and Chris I. started out as the remaing remnants of a previous band that played a cramped basement. After writing what would soon become "Caskets for the Masses" we had our good friend Wayne join us. With the introduction of Wayne to our group also came more songs that were previously written in his free time. We quickly had 5 complete songs, 2 with lyrics Wayne wrote. But yet, no singer. We played as a 4 piece with no singer for 4 months before seriously shopping around for a decent singer. We tried out this one guy, but he sucked. Had some contacts with two other guys who wanted to come down and try out, but they backed out on us. Finally came along Adam from Longmont. He tried out 3 times before coming out of his shell and showing us what he's really capable of! It was unanimous, he was our new singer! Finally we could get the ball rolling and get some lyrics to our songs. First song to be completed was "House of Cards", then came "Caskets..." one of our personal favorites. We currently have 7 songs of our own and I must say do a kick ass Bon Jovi cover, with many more great songs to come! Make sure to check us out and we hope you enjoy listening to our music just as much as we enjoy making it!!! Love, Set Aside
