Coinfish is a three-piece Shoegaze/Dream Pop band out of Riverside, CA. Forming in the summer of 2003, they are a band to watch. Their music is an intercourse of swirling, emotionally charged music with spiritual issues (faith, love, abandonment, guilt, and hope.) The band’s music draws from influence such as: Pink Floyd, Radiohead, Spiritualized, My Bloody Valentine, among others. Confish will take you on an emotional journey of highs and lows and into “the reaches of the deepest space.”
Why this name?
It was a song by a band I was in previously called By the Riverside
Do you play live?
We have played around Riverside, CA at places such as Disposable Pop, Coffee Depot, and All About Coffee Roasters. We love to play live and would certainly consider openings at other venues outside the Inland Empire.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
I think it has helped bands. Independent bands are given a forum. Mainstream bands are exploding. It is giving recognition to bands, who without it, would never have been heard, and it is opening up new generas of music that would have never existed.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Sure would. Where's the pen?
Band History:
We have been together a short time, but have acomplished much in that short time.
Your influences?
Pink Floyd, My Bloody Valentine, Spiritualized, Slowdive, and The Verve. I tend to lean toward the Brits. They just seem to have always produced better music.
Favorite spot?
Being at home with my wife and son.
Equipment used:
I play an Epiphone Sheraton, Fender Tele, and Fender Twelve-String Acoustic through a Boss ME-50 effects processor into a Fender Super Bassman stack. Our bassist uses a Warwick Corvette into an Ampeg SVT 350 and our drummer uses a Pearl 8 piece with Ziljian cymbols.
