The year marked 2000 was my first wonderful experience since I have been created. I was invited to a party in Atlanta GA. So I thought why not go. That night changed my life. I found what I had been missing in my life, the music that no matter how many times I listened to it I never grew tired of it. The first party was a Caffine tour and I got to hear DJ Micro for the first time and it blew me away and I realized this is what I need to do.
That was just the beginning I started going to parties every weekend. Then about 2 years later someone introduced to a new friend melmo and we became good friends. She was a DJ so I asked her if she could teach me how to do it. So she showed me what to do with the mixer and the tables and said “Have at it.” So I practiced on her tables for about 5 hours straight and then it hit me. I started matching beats and doing complete mixes, of course they were not really well mixed but I was learning. Within a couple of months I purchased my own set of turntables and started to practice on my own.
I always loved listening to DJ’S such as: DJ TIESTO, KIMBALL COLLINS, PAUL OAKENFOLD, SASHA AND DIGWEED, SANDRA COLLINS, PAUL VAN DYK, AND FRANKIE BONES. So that was my inspiration for spinning trance and house, I am also doing a little breaks and jungle in my sets now. I love the feeling that I would get when I would see SANDRA COLLINS and DJ TIESTO mix, they way the could really rock the crowd and those wonderful buildups that they have in their mixes so I wanted to let other people experience what I experience when hearing these mixes. When you have a DJ that loves the music and the lifestyle in which this is you will feel the love through the mix whenever you see that DJ. There was a movie made about this scene and one of the lines in this move I always keep in my mind, and that phrase is “I do it for the nod.” That along with the DJ’S listed above is my inspiration.
I used to spin every Saturday night at a place that is formally known as The Golden Nugget Studios it has now closed down. It was a local DJ area where I play with such DJ’s as: DJ DRAMA, GOLDENBOY, DJ GRUV, SPECIAL K, and I have played at a local music festival that they hold every year in downtown Chattanooga TN, called RIVERBEND. Also KIMBALL COLLINS in Chattanooga at a club called FATHOM where I have shared the decks with other DJ’s such as: DJ MIZ.MO (my manager), VICTOR SERENE, DJ HERO, STEVE THURMOND, and other local talent. This has become a huge party over the past few months with partygoers into the 3-didget numbers. I am also doing a bi weekly now in a cyber café called CYBER LAN in Chattanooga every other Saturday night with a good friend of mine DJ ROBB. Also I have been seen playing at the ELECTRIC BALLROOM in Knoxville where I have made it to the finals in the DJ competition that started Jan. 6th. I have been spinning a total of a year and a half. Thank you for taking time out of your busy schedule to read this and give my CD a listen
