3. An original new rock band from New Orleans, Louisiana. The brainchild of producer/songwriter/guitarist Keith Guillory, Menagerie exhibits a collection of diverse influences, from the female-fronted gothic rock of Evanescence, Lacuna Coil, and The Gathering, to the moody progressive rock of Pink Floyd and Anathema. Enhanced with the strong rhythm section of bassist Daniel Eschete and drummer Shawn Roddy, and the atmospheric orchestrations of keyboardist Kevin Kish (all veterans of New Orleans metal act Shakespeare in Hell), Menagerie introduces the vocal talents of Brooke Mayfield. On their debut CD, Cages, the band collects twelve diverse but accessible songs- the guitar driven rock of Desperate and Colder, the classically Baroque Still, and the somber piano-driven Closed, amongst others. These songs express feelings of regret, isolation, and loss...the cages that we build for ourselves.
