Rodd P. is a artist, producer, composer from Racine, Wisconsin, that does a solo thing, making it sound bigger by incorporating electric/acoustic percussion, backed by sequencers and drum machine. His music best falls under a "trance-groove" category. Rodd P.'s music carries a unfalteringly laid-back vibe. His music flows, gyrates, and seeps into your subconscious. It plants a seed. When harvest time comes, look out. Although Rodd P. resides in Wisconsin, this is music of L.A., N.Y. and any other big-time initials you can find.
Why this name?
Original, with a couple of minor changes.
Do you play live?
Yes, festivals, clubs, and small venues.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
The internet has provided an opportunity for indie artist to reach people and build a fan base outside of their home town in which probably wouldn't be possible without the internet.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
After receiving my first unworthy indie deal
from an unworthy talent agent, and doing my homework, and noticing all of the double dips,
triple dips, and loop holes that most major deals
are made up of, which in tern is working not in the artits best interest but the labels interest, NO, this is why I have started my own label.
Band History:
Rodd P. is a solo artist from Racine, Wisconsin,
that has been invovled with music since the age of 5.
His first live performance was at the age of 19,
performing as a back-up dancer for his cousin R&B
singer/songwriter Dawite Brown, drummer for the
late Love Expression band who in the past has open for
the Temptations. The performance proved to be the
eye opener for Rodd P. when the stage was rushed by
the audience.

This event became the milestone in Rodd's life setting
the stage for something bigger later in life. Knowing that
he had what it took to captivate the audience, Rodd has since
sat in with various bands/DJ's on percussion in his native town
ranging from R&B, Blues, Jazz, Rock, and Country. While performing
in jam sessions Rodd had the opportunity to play with "Buddy Miles"
of the late (Jimmy Hendrix).

These days Rodd is founder of his own indie label and is diligently
working on his skills of production and learning the ropes of the
business. His self-produced indie-released CDs have made local
headlines quoting his first self produced indie released debut EP
"Deep" as "music worthy of the big screen," and the follow up CD
due out soon, as "music that should stand the test of time,"
giving Rodd P. evermore sense that he knows and has what
it takes.

Rodd's passion for music has grown into wearing many
hats as label founder, percussionist, producer, composer,
arranger, live performer, engineer, editor, programmer,
promotion & marketing.

Check him out today, and look out for this evolving self-made
multi-faceted artist to explode on the music scene soon.
Your influences?
Quincy Jones, Jimmy Jam, Terry Lewis,
Timberland, Missy Elliot, Prince, Micheal Jackson,
Phil Collins, Fleetwood Mac, INXS, Depeche Mode,
The Cure, and many more from various genres.
Favorite spot?
The stage, and any place that is peaceful after the show.
Equipment used:
Rodd P. does a solo thing, making it sound bigger by incorporating electric/acoustic percussion, backed by sequencers and drum machine.

CD Title: Deep

From The Journal Times Racine, Wisconsin:
Thursday, May 18, 2000, Page 7

RODD P.'s MUSIC WORTHY OF BIG SCREEN!

"Rodd P. has been the most persistently polite recording
artist I have ever run into. A press packet arrives with
a bio and a four-song demo. A little while later the
follow-up phone call comes wondering if I received the kit.
I don't return the call because I'm swamped under CDs.

About another two weeks later another call comes in.
Mr. Fineran, this is Rodd P. I was just wondering if you
had a chance to listen to the CD I sent you yet.

Hey, this guy deserves an honest listen. "Deep" is Mr. P.'s debut
demo. Rodd calls his music "electronic/new age." That's a
little too broad. I would say his music best falls under a
"trance-groove" sort of heading. Yeah, I know what you're
thinking. That music director wouldn't like it because it
doesn't fit into her neat little pre-packaged categories.

You know what though? I like it and it should be heard.
"Deep" is not boy band/pop princess fluff. Rodd P.'s music
flows, gyrates and seeps into your subconscious. It plants
a seed. When harvest time comes, look out. Although Rodd P.
resides in Racine, Wisconsin, this is music of L.A., N.Y. and any
other big-time initials you can find.

You know when you're watching that slightly disturbing movie
and the music just pulls you in with its sonic otherworldliness?
You can't help but lean forward and get sucked into the ambience.
That is what Rodd P.'s "Deep" is about.

My advice to Rodd? Don't bother with clubs, at least not yet.
There is a burgeoning movie scene in Milwaukee right now with
Mark Borchardt's success. Get in touch with as many movie people
as you can, and we'll look forward to hearing your underscore for
a number of motion pictures. Remember to invite me to the premiere!"

CD Title: Deeper Than Deep/Time Capsule

Edited: From The Journal Times Racine, Wisconsin:

DJ Rodd P.'s "Deeper Than Deep" CD Should Stand Test Of Time!

Rodd P. is one of those artist trying to bust out.
A while back I did a short review on a teaser EP
Rodd sent me. I just recieved a firecat of a CD
by Rodd entitled "Deeper Than Deep/Time Capsule."
On the DJ scene, there are a number of sub-genres,
some of wich include jungle, techno and drum and bass.
Rodd P.'s style falls more into the trance category.

On "Deeper," the Capricorn Entertainment artist has
produced, arranged, composed and performed all
14 tracks. That means no samples, wich is copying
snippets of other people's material and rearranging
it with your own stuff. His music is awash in keyboards
and drum loops and carries its laid-back vibe unfalteringly
throughout the disc. The CD IS Deeper Than Deep and should
stand the test of time.
