Gorilla Vodoo is the sonic manifestation of the Wallpaper Man's dreams & nightmares. With a wide range of influences from John Lennon, Stepenwolf, the Who & Hendrix to Ani Difranco, PJ Harvey, Pearl Jam & Public Enemy, comes an artist with something 2 say, grooving 2 his own vibe. The full-length album--UNDER THE THUMB OF THE MAN, SMILING--A curiously schizophrenic album that, in its entirety or in small doses, is quite an interesting trip.--AVAILABLE ON-LINE ONLY!!
Why this name?
It came 2 me as a vision...perhaps a hallucination, even.....
Do you play live?
At the moment, no. Being the original space-hippie sociopath, (emphasis on sociopath)can sometimes cause complications...in other words...the Wallpaper Man doesn't really play well with others...Currently seeking treatment...stay tuned!!!
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
In theory, the internet is an important turning point in the music industry. Over the past 10-12 years, the music industry has spread its legs to more independent artists & labels, thanx in most 2 the Seattle movement & the many artists championing the cause 2 remove the veil off of a misguided industry no longer about art but commerce with a catchy soundtrack. As for today, at the dawn of a new millenium, we as a culture have found a boundless communications network(the internet) with which 2 reach out to the entire world & touch everybody. Technology has also made it more accessible for artists 2 actually take part in previously unaccessible fields of creation due to the sheer investment. All this, in theory is a utopia for the music listening community that, as evidenced by all the media complaining going on about the state of current music trends, is left wanting something more than just noise with no meaning. Unfortunately, the reality is that people are still apprehensive to experiment with anything that doesn't come with some form of mainstream validation that reassures them of the quality of the art. There is also a qestion of internet buying confidence, that needs to be addressed or even endorsed, for the internets true potential to be realized. Quite possibly, the impulse purchase with the week or more wait for the delivery of said tangible reward, is 2 much of a contradiction for the purchaser, the lifeblood of an artist.

Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
No!!! Too much bullshit!! Gorilla Vodoo is about independence... Total independence!!! Gonna do it my way!!! The entire industry is polluted...I would much rather stay right where I am, in my sociopathic bliss.

Anything else...?
Gorilla Vodoo is about music...music created primarily to be listened to. Proudly independent artist who refuses to sell his soul for rock n' roll!! Integrity is an all too rare commodity in music today...the one thing the industry can't imitate!! Gorilla Vodoo lives it with all products intimately home-made, limited edition, even discs. (home burned of retail quality) Short run...only for those who appreciate this personal ethic. In doubt? Do yourself a favor & check it out!! What the hell is all that wonderful technology for? Why did they make CD burners? I don't know but I'm sure as hell gonna use mine to my advantage. It's more affordable than those supposedly affordable entry level industry producers & duplicators, & of at least as good quality, if not better in the opinion of more than a few satisfied customers.
