Possibly the biggest break so far happened yesterday afternoon. I got a phone asking if I would be interested in doing the WREG Memphis Channel 3 "Live@9" show on 7/21. Since that was this morning, I was a little hesitant, but couldn't pass it up. David Helton and I went down to the place and were just amazed at the organization and work that goes into a television show. We were really happy with the sound, and got a lot of plugs for the website and music. You can watch the video by going to www.wreg.com , click on News, Live@9, Watch Live@9 Online now. Check it out!!

Okay..Okay...so I've been slipping on keeping you guys up to date. I've been really busy. I'm working with a lead guitarist/harmony singer now. We've done 4 shows together, and have had some really good turnout. We're also working on re-recording Prosperity Road as well as several other new songs. Our name from here on out is going to be The Unknowns. I will be building a site for out combined works, and should have some new material posted on this site very soon.

If you have a venue I can get in at, feel free to let me know the name of the place. I'll travel pretty much anywhere to do a show for a fan, so let me know!

Chicago rocks! The drive up sucks, but Chicago rocks! I can't thank Bryan Youngsma enough for helping me get everything set up. Had a great time! Awesome turnout! Can't wait to go back.

Tomorrow night is my first heavily promoted show in Memphis. Supposed to be a big turnout, so I can't wait to meet everyone!

Rockgrass is on hold, and possibly scratched altogether. I'm working on a full-blown Waylon/Willie/Johnny Cash style country album now. I'm almost done writing the songs, and am working on putting multiple instrumentation tracks with them. The first song is online now, so check it out. It's called Good-Hearted Fool.

Peace-

So it's been a few days... I have the final mixes of all the songs in hand. I'm just filtering through them, trying to pick the best ones.

Started a singer-songwriter night here in Memphis last night. Had a great turnout for a first time show. I've received such a great response from it that I have enough songwriters booked for the next two weeks. We'll see how it goes.

I also added a new member to my family of guitars. The Taylor 410-CE-L10 is a limited edition Spruce/Rosewood run of the standard 410 cutaway. Basically, Taylor made their 810 cutaway without the laquer on the back and sides, and priced it about the same as the standard 410. What a great deal. This thing sounds like a warm blanket feels on a cold day. I'm posting pictures of all my guitars, so check out the pic page.

The CD is done!! Woo-Hoo!!! Party-time!!!

Brian Knight, at Memphis Independent, has done a fantastic job mixing and mastering this album. If you are in Memphis, and need recording done, go see him.

Unbelievable. The last few days have been very busy. I went from scratching and pecking for shows, to hosting open mic nights, songwriter nights, and booking more of my own shows. This stuff rocks! Moving to Memphis has been one of the best things I've ever done. Hoepfully I can help the songwriter scene here by providing fellow songwriters with a venue. I created "Songwriters in the Round" that is going to start being help every Wednesday from 7 to 9 at Geekers Coffee. Come check it out if you're in the area. A lot of great talent has already committed to being there.

Open Mic night at Memphis Originals.......

What a great night. I'm always so amazed at the level of musicianship in Memphis. Tonight I played a song that very few people have ever heard because it isn't my typical genre, but one of my favorites. It's a new country/bluegrass tune I wrote called Bottles and Bars. It'll be on the upcoming bluegrass album called "Rockgrass". Everyone seemed to really enjoy it. One of my favorite msuicians that I've heard in Memphis, Parker Anderson, complimented me on it, and said it really reminded him of Norman Blake. WHAT A COMPLIMENT!! For Parker to say anything positive about my songs is an honor in itself, but to be compared to Norman Blake is just unreal. It made me feel very good to know that people like my music regardless of its genre.

Now that the "Prosperity Road" EP is done, I can get to work on finishing the "Rockgrass" EP. All teh songs are written, but I just have to sit down and finish them. I'm going to try and show off a little more on it by putting some bluegrass runs in the songs. Ha Ha

How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
The internet is awesome. I could sit and listen to music by people like myself all day long.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Hmmmmm...................Doing your own writing, production, management, promotion, and booking is a huge job, but is an awesome challenge. The payoff of connecting with a crowd of people you have drawn to a show is worth all the work. I don't know what a major label could offer that can compete with that feeling.
