King Marz is an American record producer from Norfolk, Virginia. Born Markus Deshawn Taborn, his stage name is derived from the roots of his first name which is connected to the Mars, the roman god of war. Marz began creating beats at 14 in 2005 when one of his closest friends introduced him to FL Studio, then called "Fruity Loops" and he became entranced with producing. Due to him dropping out of high school he attained his GED at the age of 16 and joined the military at 17 during this time he paused on making beats. While in the Army he picked up producing again at age 19 and that's when he met Huump Dutch Dodgers and the result of their collaborations have produced projects such as The Cold Shoulder mixtape (Datpiff) and The Cash Cassette. Marz has worked with various other artist throughout the years as well. He gathers inspiration from a wide range of sources including: 80s-90s video games, Anime, Nujabes, Ludwig van Beethoven, Three 6 Mafia, Nobuo Uematsu and Lo-fi music. His otherworldly melodies mixed with deep kicks, snappy snares and booming bass does well at prepping you for intergalactic exploration in a meditative state. He is currently working with the legend Lex Luger to hone and enhance his production skills to the next level.
