A few years ago I got hold of a free demo of some mixing software with a limited range of samples. As an infrequent hobby, I tinkered with the samples, made a few of my own, and ended up with 12 tracks that I thought were interesting and a bit different from the run-of-the-mill.
Why this name?
I was reading a chapter in "The Demon Haunted World" by Carl Sagan in which he debunks the alien abduction conspiracy theories. This lead to idea's for names of some of my tracks, and ultimately to my bandname.
Do you play live?
I used to DJ in clubs a few years ago, but don't play live currently. Will probably return to live DJ'ing in the future.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
Well, it certainly offers an opportunity for unsigned artists to promote themselves.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Without a doubt if the terms are satisfactory.
Your influences?
The major influences would be Jean Michel Jarre, Art of Noise, Depeche Mode, Vangelis.
Favorite spot?
That would be Cape Town, South Africa. Beautiful, cosmopolitan city with energy to spare.
Equipment used:
Just a PC with a few different mixing programmes depending on the sound I'm trying to achieve.
