Why this name?
Funny story from a former band. Sometime in the Winter of 1999 were swilling coffee at a Waffle House in our home town. We'd decided to change our name Gutta Percha to something that clubs and radio hosts could pronounce.W e'd packed a bunch of names, scribbled, on tiny pieces of paper in a hat. They ranged from a few pretty cool ones to some metally jewels submitted by our former bass player. I think "Flesh Saber" might have been one of them. When the moment of truth came, we drew "13 Superwide". Yeah... go ahead. We deserved it.

Anyway, Shane and I had both dropped in The Bitters (a.k.a. theBitters) and agreed that it would have been ideal. Truth be told, I think we were just glad that "Sack Dragon" didn't get pulled.

Flash forward to the days following the non-event that was January 1, 2000. Shane, Jon, and I had gotten back together to write and record some songs. We needed a name. We were terrified to risk the luck of the draw again. So, we chose The Bitters.
Do you play live?
We absolutely thrive on playing live and have been lucky enough to do so from FL to NY. There's something pretty magical about getting on stage in front of an audience and getting to spend some time checking out other artists.

Probably our proudest moment was taking the stage on which Bob Dylan played at The Bitter End.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
The three of us do fairly well for ourselves with other interest so, unless the contract was extremely lucrative and free of the typical pitfalls seen by many bands, no. We would love to work with an indie that had just the right mix of artist collaboration and business tact, though. Interested parties, inquire within!
Band History:
We began in the earliest bits of the year 2000. Our goals were pretty simple: write songs and become absolutely the most famous band that no one has ever heard of. It was all about the music, the experience, and the camaraderie then. 11 years later, it still is!

There is, of course, more to the story. We'll try and capture it here sometime soon!
Your influences?
We've always felt that there's something to be learned from the works of any musician. Maybe its a phrasing... an approach to an idea... or a guitar trick that my fingers just aren't nimble enough to rip off. If someone has put some part of themselves into it, it has an influence on us.
Favorite spot?
I think we're pretty varied on this one. From a musical standpoint, I'd say New York is an amazing place. A lot of history and a lot of opportunity live under the rugs there. Austin is pretty amazing, too.
Anything else...?
