Why this name?
Well, unfortunately, I am uncreative when it comes to names. I've always been a little envious of the acoustic singer/songwriters because everyone knows their name. I suppose it's nothing, but my want to be known as a solo artist, though i really would like a band.
Do you play live?
I play small places where the bar is less than 50 feet from the stage. Why? Because I like it (really, because they book me). Also, It's good because you can just stumble to the bar for another drink. The more drunk you are, the better I sound.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
I have two sides to it. It definately helps the artists that are starting out, and then it can hinder the money recieved by big time artists today. But my theory on it is, if they're really in it to get the music out, why would they care if people are downloading their tunes? I sure don't.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
A lot of people see signing a record contract with a major label as selling out. They arn't selling out unless they change thier sound. Then, that is a bad thing. I would sign only because I see it as an oppertunity to spread my music to people who never would have known about it if i had just stayed in the same place my whole life. The world is full of great music, i would just like to contribute my part to it.
Band History:
Well.....Not too much of a history until I get a band. For now, it's only me and my guitar in my dorm room writing songs all day long. I'm hoping the band will come along, but i really would like them to maybe alter my music for the best. I only want the best, and I want people that I can relate to strongly, be great friends with. It's hard to find amazing talent and amazing friendships at the same time.
Your influences?
Dave Matthews for one, Ben Folds, Bela Fleck and the Flecktones, Paul Simon, The Beatles, Clapton, Stevie Ray Vaughn, John Mayer, Louis Armstrong, Gavin DeGraw, Bob Marley, Coldplay, Phish/Trey Anastasio, Robert Randolph, Ben Harper, and basically anyone who has ever produced music before. I'm sure that I'm leaving people out, excuse me for that, but I love so many different types of music, especially groups with amazing talents and improv. skills.
Anything else...?
Nothing in the world makes me happier than standing on a stage and having the attention of people. I'm not looking to be anything too special, just someone maybe that you come to see live now and then, or listen to in the car on the way to work or play. I just want to be a part of peoples lives.
