We are Black Moon Rising, a vulgar combination of classic rock, hardcore punk and old school heavy metal (not to mention some blues and swing) from New York! We are wicked and vulgar, nasty and unkempt but we try to write enough hooks to keep our whiskey glasses full until the next show. Check it out...
Why this name?
It was suggested by a fan who believed that we sounded like a mix of CCR and Black Sabbath. Hence..."I see a black moon rising...I see the devil up ahead..."
Do you play live?
Yes, we do play live. The best show so far was to open for the Misfits on a Halloween night. What is cooler than that?
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It gives more kids a chance to sample your band and hear what is going on. No longer do people need to indulge on impulse buys, they can hear first - buy later.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Of course, if they were willing to support what I was doing without messing up the songs. It all depends on the songs, basically. The promotion and otherwise is for a label large of indie to do anyway.
