Why this name?
My Group Name is actually Nuvybe, RevJayMo is actually my production and artist tag.
Do you play live?
I do not consider myself a standard musician, I can play live of what I write, but I mostly produce. I am also a minister of the Gospel so I preach as much as I do music, But I am a called to do both. A special moment, which was probably one of my greatest moments was headlining in Reno with my male group LFC (Living For Christ)We had dressing rooms and ministered before an Arena filled with people.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
I think it allows you to get a look and listen from people in the industry that you would never get the means to contact on your own.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Yes, If The Record Company is willing to accept my message of Christ through music.
Band History:
I began in music at age 7 singing at my church in Gary Indiana. At the same time I was growing up in the hip hop era, and did music with the Group KGB with my homies Zo and Mel. In 1990 I moved to California following high school and started the group LFC (Living For Christ). I also sang with San Jose Community Choir, which opened for many famed gospel artists whom came to the bay area, as well as was the McDonald's Gospel Fest Award Winners. I was writing and producing for LFC for many years until we parted to various locations and other ministries. In 1999 I started the Group Nuvybe. We are still associated however most of our work is yet unfinished. Currently I am now writing and producing what you will hear here. I now work with all whom are available and receive the music that God has given me.
Your influences?
My Musical influences are such a wide range because I was a church kid growing up in the twilight of the hip hop and soul era, so I loved the Winans, Commissioned, Darryl Coley, because they were Christian and started the contemporary gospel trend, but I loved the sounds of Stevie Wonder, Donny Hatthaway, EW&F, Mc Lyte, Audio Two,
Run DMC, MC Chan, Marley Marl, and so many others whom were hip hop and soul. I am also a huge neosoul fan, which to me was originated by A Tribe Called Quest, who fused Jazz and Hip Hop. My Style encompasses all of this. I am a huge Lalah Hathaway Fan. She is the best female vocalist Alive
