Amish Mohammad was founded in 1996 because we, as fans of true rock, were fed up with all of the same old crap we were being force-fed by the radio, and the dance happy bar bands that seem to all have the same set list. We play first and foremost to please ourselves, and other like-minded individuals as well, because we know that classic metal/hard rock is viable market that is largely overlooked, leaving the fans of hard rock music from the 70's & 80's feeling somewhat deserted. We decided to play music by bands we all love such as Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, etc., and played many of the songs only their true fans would recognize and flip out when they hear them because "nobody ever plays this"!! It worked out beautifully. After several personnel changes we have been able to begin writing and recording our own music, which is what you hear on this website. Our true introduction is only just beginning.....
Why this name?
The name must be blamed on drunken irreverence. The name means absolutely nothing. It was well before the 9/11 tragedy. We nearly changed the name at that time, but decided against it because we would be allowing that prick Bin Laden to take something from us. F*** him.
Do you play live?
We play live in various venues around Western Wisconsin mostly. One incident that really stands out was a night when Rob, one of our guitarists, tripped over his shoelace and fell backward 4 feet to a concrete floor, landing flat on his back at a big show. The bastard never missed a note, but ended up beating his machineheads back into place with a beer bottle backstage to continue playing his beloved Les Paul. What a trooper...
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
I think it opens up alot of doors that otherwise may remain closed to many great bands. (Where's my damn key?)
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Are the Kennedys gun-shy?
Your influences?
This band is definitely influenced by bands like Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Soundgarden etc...
Favorite spot?
Anyplace with beer..
Equipment used:
Gibson, Marshall, Hartke, Pearl
Anything else...?
A new website is in the works, keep an open eye please!
