Lyrics
She was always wishin'
He would come to her door
And tell her that
She's all that
She's all he's livin' for
Then take her by the hand
Like in the movie that she saw
A hundred times or more---

She was always writin'
In her journal of dreams
The way he'd talk
The way he'd walk
In his too tight fittin' jeans
But her romance novel diary
Was just wishful thinkin' scenes
Or so it seemed---

Just then a knock on the door
And her Mom says, "Some boy's here to see ya"
And she runs down the hall
Where she fixes her hair in the mirror
Then her Momma says
It's good to make the boy wait
You better keep him hangin'
At the start
It's best to take it slow
To see that
Chick flick written in your heart---

The kids in her class
Say he'll think she's just cruel
They say he'll run
If there's no fun
There's a thousand girls in school
But she wants a love
Like her Mom and Dad's
And her Momma, she's no fool,
And it's a simple rule---

Just then he texts her a line
Sayin, "You look so fine. Can I see ya?"
And she sends her reply saying,
"Not 'til I find my panacea"
For her Momma says
A boy can make her heart ache
Love sick is the way it always starts
She says she'll take it slow
And see that
Chick flick written in her heart---

In her diary that night
Here is what she writes
"Today it may have very well
Been the best day of my life!"

Just then a knock on the door
And her Mom says, "Some boy's here to see ya"
And she runs down the hall
Where she fixes her hair in the mirror
Then her Momma says
It's good to make the boy wait
You better keep him hangin'
At the start
It's good to take it slow
To see that
Chick flick written in your heart---

It's best to take it slow
To see that
Chick flick written in your heart---
