Why this name?
I'm mainly a solo singer / composer at present, so I guess my parents chose my band name since it's just my real name.
Now in case you are wondering - my parents were hippies and were in a band themselves back in Vegas in the early 70's. They had a gig in Hawaii where they ended up staying for 10 years. I was born at home and they looked at my personality to decide what to name me. My first name, Kealoha, was chosen because my parents thought it might help prevent me from getting beat up on "haole day" a weekly beat-up-the-white kids day that my older sisters had to deal with...
My middle name was chosen because when I was in my first week of external life, whenever I would cry my parents would take me for a drive in their 1967 Wildcat. I rumbled a lot and the vibrations would make me mellow (in fact they almost named me "Mellow", and "Satchmo" was another near miss because I looked like Luis Armstrong at birth according to my dad).
Oh - and my last name comes from Norway - in the Tinn, Parish. Something to do with Vikings have sex with the French according to my parents - but I don't know for sure...

Do you play live?
Lately I've been playing in Carlsbad, CA at the Mas Fina Cantina every Tuesday lately for open Mic night.
I had fun playing the Seattle Hempfest in 1995. That was a big crowd - about 10,000 when I played and about 35,000 by 4:20 when there were joints being thrown into the audience by the event sponsors I imagine...

How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
I don't think about these trivial matters much. Only that it's cool to be able to put my music out there for others to check it out.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Um - Yeah, Sign me up baby! Me, become a sell out? Hmm, - ok sounds really fun actually! (first you get the money, then the power, then...)
Band History:
Played "the bong song" on Woodstock '94 Pay Per View, and 1995 Seattle Hempfest with Allen Baker. Yeah mon, the only unsigned band on the 94 Woodstock pay per view show. "Far out man!"
Your influences?
Classic Rock, seventies and eighties music, grunge, some of the more intelligent (and even some of the less intelligent) Hip Hop, basically eveything I hear and like. Jazz, classical, flamenco, tribal, techno, new stuff, old stuff, fast stuff, slow stuff, I could go on and on...
Favorite spot?
Any beautiful, warm tropical place with good waves, clean air, and clean water. - and with enough cash to go somewhere else at will.
Equipment used:
Taylor Acoustic, Fender Telecaster, Line 6 Amp, 5 string shecter bass, African Ashiki Drum, LP mini Conga, Alesis basic drum maching, Tascam 780 recorder, Didjereedoo (who knows how to spell it??) Honer Harmonica.
Anything else...?
Yeah - Carlsbad CA, where I live, has it's own music scene and should really be on the map musically. There are some really good musicians in town. The guys from San Jacket, Gringo and his buddies, and Mike and Nathan all rock with pro tallent. If you are an A&R type of person, then you should really visit the Mas Fina Cantina on a Tuesday - great energy in that place...
There are now open mic nights at Tom Giblins every Sunday - 9:00 - 12:00. Open Mic at the Mas Fina Cantaina 8:00 till 1:20 every Tuesday. Open Mic at the Parrot Bar in Oceanside at the Harbor every Wednesday 8:00 - till there's no one left or 2:00, which ever comes first...
I will be putting together a few sets and a band soon since people keep telling me I need to get my music out there so come check us out live. I'll keep you posted on the dates...
