Hello, my name is Bob Dreher and I welcome you to the FusionWeld page! I write and record music as a hobby and a passion with friends I have made over the years locally and around the world, through the internet. Although some tunes I finish by myself, I find that everyone has something different to offer.It always amazes me how even one person can change a song through their contributions and ideas...and almost every time it is on a positive level. I have no desire for fortune and fame,just the fact that I would like as many people as possible to hear the music we make together. My greatest wish is that someone will find it enjoyable. Thats all I could ask for.
Why this name?
I think fusing classic rock with progressive rock and any other form of guitar driven rock is what the name implies. I like to cross boundaries and I hate putting any song in a certain category. You'll find a wide range of music here from pop to hard rock to blues, so I definitely can't slap any one category on the music.
And it just so happens I was a fusion welder in the aircraft industry, and now I weld fuel drag racing cars together...so thats where the idea for the name came from ;-)

Do you play live?
I have played for the last 28 years in and around the Illinois/Indiana area. Too many memories to list, but it has been so much fun over the years. FusionWeld is still in the recording stage at the moment, so we are concentrating on good tunes 100% of the time.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It has definitely changed the way the game is played. It's the greatest thing that has happened to music marketing in our lifetimes.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Probably not, unless there were plenty of guarantees, which I don't think they do anymore.
Band History:
The nucleus of FusionWeld formed back in the early 70's with myself, my cousin Pat Gray and later on Don "Fred" Williams joining the team. Along the way I have met some wonderful people on the internet like Dave White, Muzzy Fedysky and now Dave Long, who have contributed much to the songs, some of which you'll hear here. We continue to write out of the pure love of rock and roll.
Your influences?
Oh geez, Beatles would have to be numero uno, Uriah Heep of course, John Lawton's vocal abilty inspires (former vocalist with Uriah Heep, now with his own band...The John Lawton Band), Kiss was a big influence when I was learning to play lead guitar, and just about any guitar driven rock music like UFO, Thin Lizzy, Blue Oyster Cult, SRV, Hendrix and on and on.
Favorite spot?
The Rocky Mountains, and of course home.
