Beauty's Confusion make music that rides a fine line between electronic pop and gloomy indie rock. Influenced by a myriad of sound, from underground hip-hop (Sage Francis, Anticon), and the "Bristol Sound" (Portishead, Massive Attack), to modern shoegaze and indie rock (Smashing Pumpkins, Catherine Wheel, Coldplay), the band has created music and words that break the hearts of those who listen.
Why this name?
It just sounded cool to us, the only name that stood out on a page full of names.
Do you play live?
We do not play live often in Florida because where we live, there is nowhere to play, and a music scene tries to exist but fails due to lack of venues and lack of interest. When we relocate up northeast (Philly area) in fall of 2004, we'll be in a central location and hope to get as many gigs as possible. For now though, we're just concentrating on completing our full-length CD.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
I think the invention of the MP3 and P2P trading will crumble the industry (and it has already started). I believe artists need to be paid for their hard work, but I also believe that music should be very cheap and musicians should give at least some of it away. It's so hard to get out there these days (so many bands) and I believe that $20 for a CD is ridiculous (for most mainstream albums, which usually only have one or two good songs). I think with indie labels putting out full albums of all good songs, for around $10, is the way to go, and I hope the majors follow their lead.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Never. EVER. Indie ONLY. Majors do not care about your art. You are a tax write-off to a major label.

BC is comprised of Moxx (drums, keyboards, turntables, guitar, programming, vocals) and Jenna Ferone (lead vocals, guitars, piano). The duo formed in spring of 2001 on a mutual love for movie scores, independent filmmaking, and the vast indie rock/punk and trip-hop music realms: music with heartfelt meaning.
Beauty's Confusion are extremely down-to-earth, hard-working people who strive to create music that defies the generation gap, as well as the gap between electronic music enthusiasts and indie rock fans.
BC released an EP in spring of 2002 (and an updated version in late 2002), and are currently working on their full-length CD (June 2004 release), as well as several independent films and scoring projects.
They have also remixed several independent and well-known artists, including Philadelphia's Daughter Darling, Kosheen, and Tori Amos.
If the sounds of Esthero, Dido, Sarah McLachlan, Sneaker Pimps, and Portishead interest you, you may enjoy the music of Beauty's Confusion. If you haven't heard of the group yet, chances are you'll be hearing about them in the future.
