After a taking a walk through a mushroom patch, the members of Bree Walker's Hand decided it might be fun to try recording some music. Their first few attempts were difficult and yielded little result as the musicians found it almost impossible to play the bending, melting instruments in front of them. But on the third try they channeled over an hour of amazing psychedelic progressive rock that became the Tales Of The Mushroom King album. Bree Walker's Hand is a side project from the members of The Price Beacons, who can also be heard on SoundClick in the Alternative - Avant Rock section.
Why this name?
We are all big fans of the amazingly beautiful newscaster/DJ Bree Walker, who happened to be born with a condition known as Ectrodactyly, which among other things can cause a malformity of the hand that makes it appear webbed or cleft. Various members of the band have special physical features as well, so in the tradition of bands like Jody Foster Army, Don Knott's Overdrive, and Sandy Duncan's Eye, we decided to pay homage to Bree with our band name. (We LOVE YOU BREE!)
Do you play live?
Once in a great while.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It gives it a headier aroma and a frothier head.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Yes, but only if they supply us with drugs, women, and fast cars (or wheelchairs).
Band History:
A series of recording sessions by members of The Price Beacons with long time friend and keyboard wizard Tim provided the basis for the material heard on the Tales Of The Mushroom King CD. Although this was at the time a one-off side project, the band has remained in contact and has ocassionally recorded over the years, and there will be CD release of material from those sessions soon.
