I had been writing some songs and I wanted to find a drummer to record with, thats when 5 Foot Setback's drummer Cooper Fleishman had Jeremy Saks come in and hang out during one of the recording sessions.(I was recording 5 Foot Setback at my studio: New Eden Studios.) Jeremy and I got together and we have been recording and writing off and on this past year.
Why this name?
I love the flower, Awakening Dream is a beautiful flower. No I'm not a hippy flower child type. I was cleaning up my life and I felt it described my new out look on life it being an awakening dream and plus its a pretty flower.
Do you play live?
No we haven't yet but if we do it would be at this new and growing space in Beavercreek called the Cannon Art Collective. You can find out more about this space on thier website www.cannonartcollective.com I feel that these guys have a good heart and are helping the artistic community to grow in a real positive way.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
I feel it gives more power to the independent artist to help get thier music heard.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Um, maybe if all the elements were right, I mean as of now I have total control, good or bad, and I like it that way.
Your influences?
Breaking Pangsaea, Blind Melon, Appleseed Cast, Bright Eyes, Beatles, Dashboard Confessional, Sonic Youth, and right now I am listening to alot of local stuff: As Friends Rust, 5 Foot Setback, Shadyside, Simply Waiting, When Sparks Fly, Dead Blue Sky, and The Story Changes.
Favorite spot?
um honestly lately it's been a toss up of Cannon Art Collective in Beavercreek or Chipotle in Dayton. I really love good music, good creative atmosphere and good burritos.
Equipment used:
I use a 1997 G&L Legacy Strat through 1975 Gibson Hawk amp along with a Peavey Transtube Amp, ran through 1965 Fender Bassman Cab and 1971 Vox Bull Dog Cab. All effects come from the amps and guitar. Jeremy plays a Drum Workshop kit and all Zildjian cymbols.
Anything else...?
Ok so I was told I could write anything here:
I like black cherry sodas and Jeremy likes vanilla sodas.
