Hi. I've been moonlighting as Axis 1 at many diferent places to include Ampcast and MP3. It is a band that includes many different players from across the US as well as around the globe. A purely digital fantasy band. The fact remains that I am the driving force behind this concept digital band. It is as Gary Nielsen that most of the material is played live. I'm a singer/songwriter who mostly plays live electric and acoustic shows solo.
Why this name?
Tis me given name.
Do you play live?
Yes, I play at open mikes, perform for the staff and patients at my place of employ and for anyone who is willing to listen.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
MP3 style of music has revolutionized the way music is distributed globally and has led to the rise to an independent musician movement that is forcing major labels to change the way they sign and promote/sell their own major acts.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Don't know.
Your influences?
I've always like a number of different rock and roll singers and bands. Believe it or not, I first started listening to country music as a kid. I remember hearing Johnny Cash while riding in the back of my dad's car and singing along. As I grew and pop told me, I bought you an FM radio stop listening to AM and use it. So I did and discovered rock and roll. The Beatles were the first group that caught my attention. The story evolves, but to keep it short I draw from such bands as The Who, Pink Floyd, solo acts like Peter Gabriel, Neil Young, and almost anyone you could name. THe list is long....
