Why this name?
Dirty Tone was a nickname given to me back in high school. I had this old truck I would work on everyday and everyone would come over drink and smoke and while I worked on this truck. I would have grease and dirt all over me, So they started calling me Dirty Tony, and when I started making beats, It got switched to Tone
Do you play live?
I use to rap, We did a show at the local skateshop. It was dope, all our friends came out and supported us.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
How long do you have? lol. The digital era has changed the way of the music indsurty so much. It has given back alot of the power and freedom to the artist. Arist able to do much more promoting themselves and such. It really changed how labels do things now.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Depends on the contract details really. If it was a good deal and I got to keep atleast partial copyrights on the sound recordings then I would. A publishing deal would work better for me.
Band History:
I started out rapping in 2000, and on breaks from writing sessions I would play around on some program my buddy had to make beats. and from there I just grew. I got into fruity loops, which I learned alot from. Then a buddy/fellow beat maker introduced me to Reason, and I started takign beat making seriouslly. I went MIA end of 2007 until 2009 only to return to beat making, then I decided that I wanted to be an audio engineer and not only make beats, but work with bands and artist recording thier music as well.
Your influences?
I have all sorts of influences from different sides of the spectrum. As an artist its hard to say what doersnt influence you
