Why this name?
Rose likes her name, and sees no need to change it.
Do you play live?
Rose plays weekends at an art gallery/bistro in her town to a small but devoted audience. Recently she's been involved in a music festival, been on a radio show, and released her first single. Asked about a special moment, Rose says: "Singing onstage at the Coaster Theatre was a dream come true - it's such a beautiful, historic place, and it has wonderful acoustics!"
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
Rose says: "The internet is a wonderful resource for those of us who live in the middle of nowhere and can't afford to travel around promoting ourselves - finally, there is a way to be heard by people all over the world!"
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Rose says:"It would have to be a very unusual contract, since I am not willing to leave my children to travel for long periods of time."
Your influences?
Rose's musical influences began with classical at an early age and broadened to include pop, R&B, jazz, folk and alternative. When asked what kinds of music she likes best, she answers: "Anyone who's GOOD!"
Favorite spot?
Rose says: "I think Portland, Oregon, is one of the most beautiful cities in the country. They have a great slice of cultural life there; art and music and food and books...it's a great place."
Anything else...?
Be prepared to be moved! Rose has such flexibilty of style, you never know if you'll hear jazz or R&B or pop! But every song she sings is full of emotion.
