Big Block 454
NEWS   "Strangeways Riot", an early Big Block 454 song, was on our music page for a few days as a bonus to fans; we've deleted it now, but not before it reached Number 1 in the Brit Pop chart.

We had 1134 song plays in the last 15 days of December, and "Eat Your Greens, Mr. EGG" reached Number 3 in the Soundclick Avant-Rock chart... Hurrah!...

We are busy working on our latest album. Should have finished the songs by the end of January... Expect a different sound; acoustic backdrops, harmony vocals, fretless bass... Sounds like "Pet Sounds"?... Only if your pet is an iguana.

Band History:
From Stuart Maconie, after playing "I name this child Acker Bilk" on his BBC Radio 6 show : We're all pretty much agreed here that that was genius... terrific stuff.

Review by Daniel from Onion Jack : It's just absolutely bloody bonkers. It shouldn't make sense, but it just does. "Eating Soap Alone" is simply magical..

From an American fan : "I actually hear a lot of German psychedelia in your music. If compared to art it would be a cross between Dali and Hieronymus Bosch. I don't know if having done LSD allows me to approach music like yours from that angle but I'm sure it helps. This music disturbs me and touches me on many levels, rarely have I heard such a mix of chaos and beauty mixed together."

From Stephen Fonzo: "Brilliant arrangements, well engineered... humbling, really, and very imaginative as well."

Big Block 454 are:
Colin Robinson - fretless bass, engineering, junk, wind
Alex Stone - guitar, serious vocals
Mark Joell - keyboards, funny vocals, funny handshake
Pete Scullion - occasional guitar and "jazz"
Your influences?
Brian Eno, Faust, Can, Frank Zappa, Captain Beefheart, Syd Barrett-era Pink Floyd, Soft Machine, Gong, The Residents, Amon Duul II, King Crimson, the BBC Radiophonics Workshop.
