Cynder is my side project. I have a solo acoustic act and my band October Rising. The songs under Cynder are electric songs that are not part of either. I guess they are the reject songs. :-p Mainly, that's because they were not approved by my band members in October Rising. My acoustic site is http://www.soundclick.com/timsylvester
Why this name?
My friend Patrick and I started Cynder a long time ago. It didn't work out and I continued to write songs under that name. The band name was his idea.
Do you play live?
Since it's a side project with no band, it's more of a hobby than for show.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It's easier to get your music out there. I haven't heard of any success stories of record producers finding bands over the internet, but it could happen I guess.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Yea, although I would probably get it for my acoustic stuff or my band before this stuff.
Band History:
I've been writing songs since age 15, I started off with an electric guitar and have tons and tons of songs. I just keep writing. Anyway, I have a some sort of quasi-recording studio on my computer now so I have been playing around with Cool Edit Pro. So a lot of these songs are either old or new experiments with different sounds.
Your influences?
Alice in Chains, Metallica, Green Day, Peter Gabriel, Nirvana, Blink182, Bad Religion, Dave Matthews, Soundgarden, Pantera

Equipment used:
Cool Edit Pro 2.0, electric guitar, mixer, fender reverb amp, ummmm microphone, pretty simplistic.
