Arising from the dark recesses of the Detroit rock scene is the post-apocalyptic,hard rock sound of none other than Generation Zero. Since the band's genesis in spring of 2000 it has evolved ,in leaps and bounds, through the alliance of a trio of inspired veteran musicians from several prominent Detroit area bands. Eric Baig,Mike Balagna, and Danny Spanos share a vision of an innovative vehicle for a more eclectic amalgamation of progressive rock, heavy metal, and hard-edged,thought provoking lyrics.Unafraid of traversing time-honored barriers between musical genres, the coalescence of their expertise and experience has, indeed, given birth to a singular,
uninhibited sound;both a tribute to its influences and a superlative expression of its
vision. Transcending the constraints of their previous undertakings, the unflagging energy and indisputable virtuosity of the threesome culminates in a rarely encountered intensity and the tangible embodiment of their shared vision to create, innovate, andinspire. Surpassing all of their own expectations,at atime when a less adept assemblage would be strugglingthrough its
infancy, this trio of consummate players is inthe final phase of production of its first studio CD,Propaganda, tentatively scheduled for release in 2004.

Why this name?
Tarak was in a punk band before this band. And, actually, it's kind of funny - when we first started this band, we had four or five different names. We kept getting sued by other bands...people were sending lawyers after us, saying that they own the name, etc. So anyway, when Tarak was in a punk band, He had a song called "Generation Zero." And somehow he figured that it would be a cool name for a band. It started off as a song and I turned it into a band. He wrote that song around the time of the late '90's when they were talking about Generation X all the time, so he figured the opposite of Generation X would be Generation Zero. That's how we feel we really are, because we were really born in between the really older '70's and newer version of what the hell is going on. And somewhere we fell in-between - Generation Zero.
Do you play live?
We'll play at any club that will have us. They're usually afraid that we'll trash their stage. We had a show in December of 2002 at Harpo's Concert Theatre where Danny our guitarist just totally destroyed his Les Paul on stage at the end of our set. We blew the dump up that night.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
We feel the internet is probably the best thing that has happened to the unsigned artist. The record labels have been screwing over artists for decades and are now threatened because there is another outlet for the unsigned artist to get worldwide exposure as well as sell their own merchandise online without the support of a major label. The only thing the major labels have is a bigger budget for their artists.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
If the deal was too good to pass up.I think we would be more reluctant in this day and age to sign with a major label We'd rather sign with an indie label that had a little more involvement with artist development.
