SoundClick artist: DonnyG - Electronica, Acid DonnyG style, Techno and Dance

I am mostly a hobbiest. I enjoy almost every kind of music out there. I was very much into metal for a long time. I found that my natural feeling for creativity was not metal however. I seem to be drawn to complex rhythms and rich sounds. I have been messing with music for 25 years. I really got into electronica when I started to use Sonicfoundry products. My style covers many different areas of electronica. I chose the acid section because I liked the sound of it. Later I may expand my profile, wee'll see. I hope you enjoy my music. Why this name?

I got the idea for DonnyG from Kenny G. My Jeep plate is DonnyG and I have a small business called DonnyG Productions, which has several sub names. I just was looking for something that had a ring to it. DonnyG seemed to fit the bill.

Do you play live?

I havn't played live yet. I enjoy studio work. I would like to try a live DJ session just one time. That has to feel really cool. I admire those who do live shows and have the type of personality to pull it off. Doing a rave would be awsome.

How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?

I think it's a great way for hobbiest and serious musicians to get thier music out there. I do however think it is a shame that the general public thinks we as struggling musicians or seasoned pros should give our work out for free. After all, how would they like someone skim off their paychecks. It's one thing to get music with permission but it's quite another to steal from someone elses hard work. I don't have a problem with low quality downloads. If the person really likes what he hears, he will buy the cd. I think sites like this one have the right idea. Way to go guys.

Would you sign a record contract with a major label?

yes,who wouldn't. Another one of those dream come true things.

Band History:

I have been doing electronica off and on for over 20 years. Yes, even when it was very unpopular! I have only been doing it somewhat seriously for the last 3 to 4 years.

Your influences?

I like so many musicians that it's hard to pick only a few. I would have to say as far as electronica goes, my main influances would have to be the Prodigy, Crystal Method and the old greats like Kraftwork. I appologize if I spelled any names wrong. I don't always have the time to spend making everything perfect.

Favorite spot?

Again there are so many great places and things. I have to say I enjoy the variety life has to offer. Taiwan holds many very special moments for me. Europe is a great place to visit and Hawawi was just paradise..oh yea!!

Equipment used:

I use Acid Pro 4, Sound Forge, Vegas Video, sometimes FL Studio 4 and Cakewalk home studio. I use a large variety of hardware like Korg, Yamaha, Boss, Antares, Digitech, ART, Nady, Behringer, Sony and Minolta. If I forgot someone sorry.

Anything else...?

I also enjoy doing production work for others. I love the creative process and the results of a good concept. If I had one wish, it would be to see more tolerance and brotherly love in this world. Take care all who come here, peace and love....DonnyG
