Lithium Dawn
NEWS   SOUNDCLICK STAFF!!! Please don't ditch my account. I have gotten rid of all the covers and delted my air page as well. I won't post anymore if that's what it takes to keep this site running. Thank you so much!

My site has been reduced to nothing now. Too pissy to explain.

Hey, my name's Ondrej and this is a space for all my solo and cover work. I do this as more of a hobby, meaning the cover thing. It's just fun for me. Creating the solo stuff takes bit of time and effort (tee hee). I actually have a couple of original works waiting to have vocals added to them very soon. Oh, thanks for coming here.
Why this name?
The name "Lithium Dawn" is actually a name of an old comic book I started in high school but never finished. I always liked the way it rolled off the tongue and I just kind of like the imagery it portrayed, well at least in my head.
Do you play live?
Not yet. I'm in a band currently as well. The name is Vonnis (check us out http://www.soundclick.com/vonnis). We're slowly working our way to get a few shows going and see what will emerge.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
MP3's personally are a two sided thing for me. On one hand I'm the consumer and I like being able to download maybe a few tracks to preview and album and then go buy it. In many instances, if the band sucks monkey testicles, I'll DL the whole thing and screw buying anything because, well, they shouldn't have put an 18 dollar price tag on that sh*** in the first place.

However, the further I get involved with the music writing process, the more I see how incredibly challenging it is to create thoughtful art. And it is very time consuming. I don't find it fair that some of the very excellent artists that create music today are being stolen from months before their album comes out. I have made this point before but Korn's excellent Untouchables was leaked 3 months prior to release. The album's sales lacked afterwards. And it's unfortunate because the album is very good and it took nearly 3 years to create. But yeah...there's good and the bad, it just depends where you run with it.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
At some point. It's good to have some kind of solid promoter but I really don't like the idea that most, if not all labels like to f*** you in the ass. So if I'm gettin signed along with my band, we're going for someone who doesn't necessarily feel they need to attach strings to our appendages and bring us to a show.
Your influences?
My musical influences range all over the place. I'm primarily a guitar player. I have been playing guitar since I've been 7 years old. I started on a classical but then, I kind of had a long hiatus from practicing and forgot most of everything that was tought to me. SO now, I'm at a intermediate level, working my way back to advanced.

But my primary guitar influences remain Adam Jones from Tool:

I tend to enjoy playing the spiral solos he does and I work with a lot of delay in my guitar sometimes. He may not be the most technical player, but when it comes to taste, he's top notch.

James Shaffer (MUNKY) of Korn:

Korn were the reason I got a 7 string. Afterwards, I really began to listen to what he was playing. I tend to kind of mix Jones' and Shaffer's playing in that I like using very high strings for the spirallos (is that a word?...if not I just coined it..BITCHES) and the B string for the riff structures that get some heavy punch. I enjoy listening for the staccato in his riffs. It helps with rhtyhm development.

I'm a singer second and I've only started 2 years ago. Well, I sang before taht but I didn't really start following through with it til recently.

My two major vocal influences are:

Jonathan Davis of Korn
Maynard James Keenan of Tool

Both great vocalists in their own way.
Favorite spot?
Nei Pori, Greece
Equipment used:
Well, we'll scratch the techno stuff for now.

Here's my equipment:

For guitar work:
Ibanez RG-7 string series with D'Marzio Blaze open pick ups.
For some arrangements I use a Fender Squire (in other terms- SHIT).

For effects I use a BOSS ME-50 effects Pedal.

I also sing through that pedal with a Shure P-58 microphone.

For bass, I use an ESP B-104 Ltd. series 4-string in various tunings.

Everything is recorded through a Sound Blaster AUdigy 2 soundcard and then mixed on Cakewalk's Guitar Tracks Pro 2.

For the drumbeats I use a Fruity Loops Express sampler.
Very barebones setup. Nothing more.
Anything else...?
Don't drink and bake.
