Why this name?
JReala comes from the initials of me being a Junior and that in my music I'm completely real about everything it is that I speak on. I bite my tongue for no one where as other artist will and lie just to get a few more steps ahead and self proclaim themselves to be keeping it real. Hence: JReala than the best of ya'll.
Do you play live?
I perform live when ever and where ever I get the opportunity. I love performing live to get crowd reaction to the things I speak on. Don't get me wrong I love to get crunk as hell but I also love to open eyes to life's reality rather than to glorify it.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
The internet has played a major part in the music industry in a good and bad way. In a good way by giving a revenue of exposure to anyone who has a dream or any kind of potential in this industry. Be it song writing, singing, producing, composing, and etc. Now, in a bad way by illegally downloading of artist livelihoods. The music industry and artist have lost lots of money due to this. But, in order to achieve ones goal you have to willing to sacrifice something.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Yes, I would sign a contract with a major label depending on the contract. That's everyone's goal to go major and depending on how hot you are that's almost guaranteed main stream.
Band History:
I've been writing and producing for about 12 years. I started in the South and eventually moved up to the Midwest giving me sort of a double background. I've been able to please both regions due to the fact when in the South, they love a little Midwest flavor and vice versa.
Your influences?
My musical influences are the local artist nation wide because of the hunger they present. That is hip hop at it's finest of all genres. I love old school music, those were the times people actually had something to say or a point to get across, but now days they are sampled so much all I really listen to are local artist and groups nationally.
Favorite spot?
Every side has its great points but there's no place like home. Houston TX.
Equipment used:
Ensoniqs' ASR 10, Korgs' Triton, Rolands' Phatom S88, Akais' MPC4000 for production
Anything else...?
I love to have fun, I love to live life, I love music, I love my family, I love God, and I refuse to let anyone take any of that from me. I'm serious about my business.
