Jason Lee has redefined rockin' blues, bursting on to the national touring scene after many years of performing in the smokey, obscure little nightclubs in his native city of Pittsburgh.
Why this name?
Stonewash Blues is a brand of jeans made by Lee. Seeking a name that communicated the style of music the band played and something identifiable with a man named "Lee," this was the best idea out of the dozens that were written down over several pots of hot coffee...
Do you play live?
Now touring all across America and opening for some of the greatest acts in the business.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
The internet can't reproduce the stink that live music with real rock instruments performed in real venues for rowdy listeners can create. But it's a nice way to introduce new people to the music so they'll get pumped about coming out to a show.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Already have a contract with a small label that doesn't lean on the band.
Band History:
Starting as an acoustic soloist, Jason Lee began his rock career by hanging out at jam nights in the city of Pittsburgh, rubbing elbows with the best guitarists in town, and learning everything he could about what equipment, techniques and songs to use while building his own show. Over time Jason became a master guitar technician, and a respected performer who kept stuffing more and more chops into his bag of tricks until one day he saw that it was time to take the show on the road. He's probably asleep at the wheel in his new Silver Eagle star coach at this very moment.
Your influences?
Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Eric Clapton, B.B. King, Jimmy Page, and the greatest rock and blues guitarists.
