Band History:
I am a Christian songwriter/singer. I think the music basically boils down to two major themes. The first being the absolute necessity of being saved by grace through faith in what Jesus did on the Cross. You must be born again. The second major theme is to abide in Him and bear much fruit. This must be done strictly out of a deep gratitude for what He has done for us. We don't work to stay saved, but good works are the natural fruit of a true saving relationship with Jesus Christ.
My goal for these songs is three-pronged:
1. To be used by our Lord to help make course corrections in lives. I know how easily we can be knocked off track, in our walk with the Lord. And, I know how important a timely word can be to help get us back on the narrow road.
2. To be used by our Lord to give people a view from a mountain peak where they see “Heaven’s Gates”. I love John Bunyan’s ‘Pilgrim’s Progress’ and that is what the shepherds did for Hopeful and Christian.
3. I wrote a song called “What He Has Begun” and there’s a line that says: “There’ll be times on mountain peaks where you’ll see Heaven’s Gates, other times in valleys deep, you’ll think you’ve lost your way”. I’ve been there too, in the valley where I thought I’d lost my way. I want the songs to be used to help those people, as well.

Your influences?
Musically, I would say Ray Boltz, Rich Mullins and Keith Green. As far as inspiration for writing the songs, I get most of it from daily Bible study. I also read a lot of sermons from some of the great preachers of the past. My favorite ones are G. Campbell Morgan, Charles Spurgeon, John Henry Jowett, George H. Morrison, Alexander Maclaren, John Bunyan, Oswald Chambers, J.C. Ryle, James S. Stewart, Joseph Parker, Watchman Nee, Martyn Lloyd-Jones and A.W. Tozer, just to name a few. Of the preachers of our day, John MacArthur, David Platt and K.P. Yohannan have by far had the greatest influence on helping me focus on the things that are truly important in our Lord's eyes. I try to walk with the wise and hopefully it shows in the songs.
I would highly recommend the preaching ministry of John MacArthur at 'Grace To You'. Check out this page at GTY: Who do you think that I am?
I would also like to recommend Gospel For Asia to you. It is a Native Missionary Organization headed up by K.P. Yohannan. I read the free book "Revolution In World Missions", available at the link below, and it dramatically changed how I view American Christianity, and my view of our responsibilities for the blessings the Lord has poured out on us.
This video for David Platt's book 'Radical' gives me chills. I pray we get what he is talking about!
I also pray we get what he is talking about in this clip:
Here's a book by Martyn Lloyd-Jones. I wish I had read it prior to my forties, instead of after. The Lord has used it to help re-energize my walk with Him and I am eternally grateful for that!

A Word Spoken In Due Season
Here's the link to my testimony:
I'll leave you with these words from Paul in Philippians 1:9-11 And this I pray, that your love may abound still more and more in knowledge and all discernment, that you may approve the things that are excellent, that you may be sincere and without offense till the day of Christ, being filled with the fruits of righteousness which are by Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God.

Music
What does God see when He looks into our lives? I Hope He Sees Gold.
This is a version of the song "The Night After The Day Of Grace" that includes the song introduction at the beginning.
This is an introduction with some insights into the song "Between Heaven And Earth".
I heard Ray Boltz say one time in a concert that if he could only play one song it would be "Watch the Lamb". If I could only play one of my songs it would be this one.
This is an introduction with some insights into the song "We're Blessed To Be A Blessing".
Please see the Lyrics/Story page for more on this song.
This is an introduction with some insights into the song "Didn't Our Hearts Burn".
Luke 24:32 And they said one to another, Did not our heart burn within us, while He talked with us by the way, and while He opened to us the scriptures?
"You are the One Ill go hard after - My Lord, my King, my righteousness"
They said "Glory to God in the highest and on earth peace, good will toward men. They said "Glory to God in the highest," this is where we must begin.
"But there's not safety in numbers on Judgment Day".
This song is written as advice from a parent to a young man or lady leaving home for the first time, but really it applies to each one of us, each day of our lives.
Isaiah 45:15 says: "Truly you are a God who hides himself, O God and Savior of Israel." I was inspired to write this song after reading a pamphlet by Witness Lee called "A God Who Hides Himself".
This could be called 'Peter's Song'. It is my song. Chances are, it's yours too.
"And the choir sings like angels as the Conductor leads. He knows just how to bring out each voice perfectly. When the songs are through and we have poured our hearts out to God, expectantly we'll look then we'll see the Conductor's nod."
"Lord, I come to offer You my praise..."

"Among the things that day that received a crimson stain - Oh, praise God, some blood fell on me"
He said, Child, look to Jesus. See His cross, see the lost, give your life
The seeds for this song can be found in the "Trying To Do The Impossible" file available at www.soundclick.com/mikewilhoit.
"Help me Lord to understand where my gaze needs to stay. Block out all these worldly cares, may I only see Your Face"
"Pressing on toward holiness, grateful for Gods righteousness - Its the worship, the worship of a life."
I heard Rich Mullin's version of this old Fanny Crosby hymn and it touched my heart immediately. I had to do a guitar and vocal version of it. I hope you're blessed by it. Mike
"Grace so amazing, all my life renew. Take these eyes grown blind and make them see..."
