GEARBOX was formed in the summer of 1999. Consisting of Jim of MAD JACKS and EOE, Steve of STOMPING WEARY, Josh of BOOMSLANG, and Craig of PHYCHE.
GEARBOX’s style of alternative, heavy metal, and indi rock has blended to make music that is enjoyable to anyone who has had the pleasure of hearing it. Their eight track CD, This Line, is selling very well at shows and CD Warehouse. Songs from This Line can be heard Sunday evenings on The Edge of The X at 105.9 FM.
GEARBOX has been playing on the Southside at Nick’s Fat City, the Rex Theater, Oregon Bar and Grille, Angry Johny’s and the Sports Rock Café. They have also played regionally at venues such as Buffalo’s The Continental, and Youngstown’s Section 8 Skate Park. They have had the pleasure of playing with such well-known acts as the Buzz Poets, 3 Car Garage, Voo Doo Babies, and Sho Nuff.
GEARBOX has also won 1st place in a battle of the bands, which they received free studio time and are using this to start recording their second CD. They have also placed in the finals of a few contests which have lead to open for national acts such as Pigmy Love Circus featuring Danny Carey of TOOL.

Yes, opening for Pigmy Love Circus was a great experience for us. This band featured Danney Carey from Tool, and they were amazing.

How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
Well.... We feel that the whole internet thing helps us. We book our out of state gigs, and 50% of our contacts have been made over the internet.
It's no big deal, if people really like you they will buy you music, your t-shirts, whatever you have to offer.
