NEWS   We have finally found a new drummer!!!

On the creative side of things we're writing a load of new stuff right now and hope to be out and about flaunting ourselves to the public this year.

The Band name will no longer be changing as we've had a change of heart, so the name will stay as "Quixote"

Why this name?
Don't know why, just sounded cool i guess, it comes from the novel "Don Quixote", guess we just like the whole idea behind the story, how Don Quixote never gives up and just keeps at it no matter how bleak things seem.
Do you play live?
we've played a couple of shows, most notably an intimate acoustic gig at the 13th Note Cafe in Glasgow (apparently tipped as a great venue by the late, great John Peel). This gig was definately our best to date and we recieved some great feedback.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
i think it has had both a positive and negative impact, on the positive side it has forced the record companies and various associated bodies to reconsider their extortionate prices on CD albums and bring them down to a more reasonable yet not quite satisfactory price, but it has also hampered newer bands coming through from more underground scenes because the companies are losing to much money and no longer have the option of signing a "risky" band and therefore go with the safer option of a manufactured pop acts and a whole host of Nu-metal and all this "emo" stuff thats seems to be a trend right now which will guaruntee their revenue.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
only after a successful run with an independant label and after building a considerable (not neccesarily huge) following.
Band History:
Quixote emerged from simple improvisation. What do you do with a digital 10-track recorder when the only 2 people in the room don't know how to play the same songs as each other?.............. You make stuff up, and thats how most of the songs by Quixote came to be. Two bored sound engineering students with guitars, a bass, a microphone and a digital 10-track with a drum machine. With no real knowledge of what their combined sound should be, Quixote covers a vast range of styles (although usually maintaining an alternative feel) combining many different influences, including: Jeff Buckley, The Smiths, Jimi Hendrix and Nirvana, to produce a very "original" sound. With no desire to emulate any other artist or band, Quixote are set to continue to produce new and inspiring music................for anyone who can be arsed listening.

Your influences?
Jimi Hendrix, Jeff Buckley, PJ Harvey, Nirvana, The Pixies, Radiohead, Captain Beefheart, Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Smiths.
Favorite spot?
some of us have been to New York and some have not, but id say if we all had then it would be our favourite.
Equipment used:
2 Guitars, Bass, Drums, and various effects (eg. chorus,delay,compression,wah-wah,flanger etc.)
