Perverted, retarded, immature, sexy, gay, assholes, and many other words describe the band Grand-Tour. Take a listen and you'll hear why they are described as such. Formed in 2001 the original line-up quickly faded but then in the summer of 2002 the band was launched to what it was today. Brent Thorsen joined Grant Geiger and Travis Newell to start G-T from scratch. Grant did guitar and vocals, Travis did the drums, and Brent did the bass. After practicing for a year they finally did a show. Two weeks after the show Brent said he had lost intrest and quit. In July of 2003 Eric Haffeman joined the mad-loving fun of Grand-Tour. After practicing a month with Eric, we decided to do our first show. We played a going away party and people liked us it was cool. Since then weve played 16 shows. Our biggest highlight yet was playing with the awesome HeWhoCorrupts from chicagoland. Right now we are in the process of finishing up recording our demo so be on the look out for it soon. As for now, nothing seems to be stoping Grand-Tour anytime soon.
Why this name?
i guess if you look at it now grand-tour means a tour of everything and we kind of play a little bit of everything in the punk genre making it like a "grand-tour of punk."
Do you play live?
we play live in great falls, mt. one time we didnt have drums for a show because they were locked in a friends car so we used a snare and bass. if f***ing kicked ass..
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It allows bands to exposed and contrary to what record companies beleive it does boost sales. if a kid likes your album then they will support you.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
f*** no, probably the only label we would ever get close to that is semi-big is Fat Wreck Chords.
Band History:
well, the band finally got a start in 2000. it contained beano, rickets, travis, and i. then beano and rickets decided to leave so that was the end of that. then travis and i picked up brent thorsen and we practiced for about a year with him. we played a show, sucked it up, and then bretn quit. so then when we couldnt think of a bassist i thought of this kid name eric haffeman. he wanted his band to play at the first show we had but we didnt have room. he told me that his band broke up and stuff so i asked if he wanted to play bass. he agreed and we practiced with him for 3 months. we got rid of old songs and added some new. we played our first show and did better than the first time. we then continued to write more new songs, leaving the "thorsen era" songs behind. we recorded a 6 track fling of maddness in October and gave/sold it to people for $1. We have been playing a show at least once a month since september and are improving alot. We are happy with what we do and although some arent, its ok they just get to miss out on some good ol fun-loving punk rock!
Your influences?
Grant:Well my influences are blink-182, the lawrence arms, and boy kicks girl, and tricky dick but i also draw from the broadways and jawbreaker.
