Duma have been entertaining, amusing and bemusing audiences in the Newcastle area in England for about the last... oh it seems like forever now :)

Eddie Carter - Screams, shouts, occasional singing and on-stage comedy banter...
Chris Jermyn - Guitar and general dislike of on-stage comedy banter..
Mark Watson - Bass, general organiser and equipment monkey...
Alistair Barrie - Proper guitar work
Paul McKiernan - Drums and magic tricks
Why this name?
Eddie the singer chose it for reasons not entirely known. It is Russian for thought/parliament but there is no deeper meaing to it... Update! Apparently it's a character from Eddie's beloved Sandman comics who carries the key to the Gates of Hell... apparently :)
Do you play live?
We currently play live mainly in the Newcastle area but will expand in due time
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It makes it easier for small bands to reach more people but makes it harder for them to put money in their pocket once people like them
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Yes... as long as I felt I was keep my credibility in what I was doing... of if I was really desperate for the money whichever came first...
Band History:
Eddie and Chris (Jerm) formed the band 3-4 years ago at a piss-up and went through various line-up and girlfriend changes before doing anything remotely proper. Mark came and organised them a bit better... got them out of the living rooms and into the practice rooms and a set was born...

Heading to the studio soon to do our first official and self-financed CD... look out for new tunes soon
Your influences?
oh good god... the reduced list for simplicity...
Eddie Carter - The Smashing Pumpkins, The Pixies/Frank Black
Chris Jermyn - Discharge, Napalm Death
Mark Watson - Nine Inch Nails, Pearl Jam
Alistar Barrie - Guns n Roses
Paul McKiernan - Metallica
Favorite spot?
Don't really have one myself (me being Mark the bassist) can't speak for the rest of the band... suppose if anywhere I really like being on stage with the guys... as long as everythings going well
Equipment used:
We're not using much techno stuff at the minute. I use a Schecter CV4 Bass, Zoom 708II bass pedal and Ashdown Bass Amp, Chris uses SG and BC Rich guitars a line6 SpiderII amp and various effects. Alistair keeps changing his gear so I'm listing it ;) Paul plays drums. I know nothing about drums Eddie uses an e835 Sennheiser microphone.
Anything else...?
For anyone from Newcastle, especially those in other bands... support the scene and help each other out and maybe if they get anywhere they'll help you out in return :)
