Oi! We are Low Frequency. We're a punk band with some ska. If you like hard, fast punk and catchy, up-beat ska, all with real, thought-provoking lyrics, then try listening to us.

We're just a 3-piece band; the usual guitar, drums, and bass. We're from Burlington, Ontario, come check us out if you live around there
Why this name?
One day in my (David) basement, Eric's bass pickups were picking up radio signals and playing radio stations through his amp. We noticed as we moved Eric and his bass around the room, he'd also pick up different radio stations. So I said to Eric, "Whoa man! Those are some pretty low frequency signals your getting there!" And so a legend was born...
Do you play live?
We usually play shows around Burlington. We put alot of energy, enthusiasim, and sweat (lots and lots of sweat!) into the shows. Come check us out if you can.

We're always looking for new shows, so if you can hook us up with some, be sure to e-mail us.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
Well the internet can be good for the music industry if people use it right, but unfortunately they don't. Most people will go and download all the songs from an album of a group they heard on the radio or TV or something, and steal the music and burn the whole album. I however, like to think i use it for good. If there's a band im interested about i will download a few songs by them, and if i like their sound i'll buy the cd. It can help amateur bands get a fan-base, but it screws more established bands. Either way though, if the band has a good message at least its getting spread. We personally don't care if people download and burn our music; it actually makes us happy that people are just listening to us.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Definately not. We wouldn't go to a major label. I dont think anyone true to their music would in this genre; I mean who really wants their album being sold at places like Walmart? Thats complete bullshit, thats what happens when you sign to a major label. If people want that and strive for that, then power to you for reaching it, but we like to stay true to our music. We arn't mainstream, so why should the album be? The real fans will be able to find it. We might consider signing to something like Fat Wreck Chords or Jade Tree of Alternative Tentacles etc, but we would always record ourselves. Its all about the f***in DIY ethic. No TV or radio play either...except maybe univeristy and college radio, thats kool.
Band History:
Low Frequency consists of:

David Huzyk - Guitar & Vocals
Eric McKay - Bass & Back-Up Vocals
Jake Lis - Drums

Me (Dave) and Eric met at our high school, Notre Dame, in Burlington, Ontario. We both wanted to be in a band, and we both wanted to write songs that had a good message and a hard punk sound, so we formed a band in January of 2003. We wrote alot of songs, but we could never do anything with them because we could never find a drummer. Finally, a year later, we met Jake over the local message board (the 905 board), and started playing some shows. Now we are just playing some shows, recording some songs, and having fun.
Your influences?
Our overall infuences are NOFX, Rancid, Operation Ivy, Anti-Flag, and Leftover Crack/Choking Victim. We each have our own individual influences though.

David - NOFX, Anti-Flag, Operation Ivy, Rancid, Green Day, Minor Threat, Black Flag, Bad Brains, Kid Dynamite, None More Black, Choking Victim, Leftover Crack, No-Cash, The Sex Pistols, The Ramones, The Exploited, Circle Jerks, Cheap Sex, The Adolescents, The Unseen, and many more...

Eric - NOFX, Rancid, Lars and the Bastards, Green Day, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Operation Ivy, Anti-Flag, Minor Threat, The Casualties, and Leftover Crack/Choking Victim

Favorite spot?
David - Probably here, since I dont know of anywhere else. But if i had to choose somewhere, i'd go big like Antartica, or Chile. Who goes to Chile!?

Eric - Lugano Switzerland

Jake - British Columbia, although he's never been there
Equipment used:
Whatever we can afford, which isn't much! But thats what you do, especially in this genre; you work with what you got. It's all about the DIY ethic. I think when you don't have all the expensive equipment it sounds better anyways. I know in our recordings we like that raw sound
