8 String Planet Crushing Terror Metal
Why this name?
Me (Ruan) and Nuri watched this Discovery Channel documentary on Pre-Historic Predators. We just thought it was a bad ass name, and worked with the whole 8 string low tuning. It sounded like a thing from the deep. Granted we were pretty wasted :P
Do you play live?
Yes.

How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
People from all over the world get much more exsposure to music through the internet, but its harder as an artist to individualise yourself and create something that is absolutely new.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Yeah, why not...LOL.
Band History:
Biography

(2010) - Megalodon was spawned by the creative minds of Ruan Jordaan and Nuri Grobbelaar. After discussing the project for a few years it has finally been given life. Together with Thomas Theron and Alex Toua the band has become an entity of its own in a very short period of time. Finally with the addition of Louis Henn on guitar in November 2010 the line up was completed. Megalodon brings you a (planet) crushing 8 string metal sonance.

(2011) - This terran year would mark the stars for change with Megalodon tightening the grip on their style and the departure of drummer and connection Alex Toua. Megalodon has achieved many small victories in their time orbiting Terra. This has allowed them to gain a small cluster of accumulating zealots. With the arrival of long term channeled drumming connection Dane Vincent Canterbury, the entity is now back to a 5 piece symbiotic metal sonance and promises stellar progress as Megalodon is working ever harder to bring their creations to your physical reality in 2011.

(2012) - This terran year started with Megalodon being chosen to play their début show at the biggest of Cape Town's metal festivals, Metal4Africa's Summerfest '12. Never before have any band featured on the M4A stage with no shows under their belt. Megalodon played to a full house and left the fans wanting more. Megalodon is most likely the first South African band to play live with 8 String guitars on home ground (and most likely on the African continent). The success was quickly followed by more shows as well as opening for the highly acclaimed Celtic metal outfit, Haggis and Bong for the launch of their album 'Of Myth and Legend'. Winter in the southern hemisphere brings Megalodon to hibernation as they finalise the writing and preparation of their début album entitled "Darkness in Sonance". Whiplash 2012, one of Cape Town's longest running annual events this time hosted by Metal4Africa, witnessed the earth-trembling act in December, as well as Rock the River '12, a growing new years festival in Cape Town. Megalodon closed the year with a supernova by getting chosen to play RAMFest Cape Town 2013, the biggest alternative festival in South Africa, in the company of Bring Me the Horizon and Rise Against.

(2013) - Megalodon decreed utter annihilation on humanity with the release of their début album 'Darkness in Sonance' this terran year. Backing the release is Burning Tone Records, the label to which Megalodon has recently signed. The entity were also chosen by MK Ondergrond (Local South African Music Video Channel) to participate in the Battle for Wacken Open Air 2013 of which the winner will perform at the biggest annual festival in Germany.
