SUNLAND RECORDS is pleased to announce that it has signed a Producer Agreement with producer/engineer Logan Mader. Mader first burst on to the scene as the founder of the gold-selling band MACHINE HEAD and later as the guitar player for SOULFLY. He has been making quite a name for himself behind the control board as of late, having recently worked with bands such as PUDDLE OF MUD, Junkie XL, MEDICATION and TRIGGER POINT. But it was his stellar work with EVEN X that brought him to the attention of SUNLAND RECORDS. Mader will be working with the label to develop and nurture new acts.

SUNLAND RECORDS proudly welcomes Richie Rivera to its staff as the Director For Creative Affairs. In addition to being the drummer for the hard rock band MADISON PAIGE, Richie has previously worked for Atlantic Records’ College Marketing department and for the West Coast division of Cherry Lane Music Publishing. In his new role, Richie will be working directly with label CEO and founder Ricky Kay to help oversee promotional and marketing strategies for the newly formed, alternative metal label. “It’s an honor to be working with a label like SUNLAND RECORDS that is dedicated to giving aggressive, underground music a chance to be heard,” says Richie. “This is an exciting time for independents like us and we plan on being at the forefront of this emerging scene.”

They say not to judge a book by its cover. Never is that sentiment truer than in the case alternative nu-metal powerhouse EVEN X. Mixed by Logan Mader (Puddle Of Mud, Junkie XL), the band’s debut album, Angry Mirror, is a brutal sonic landscape in which a swirling sea of melody and rhythm not only assaults the senses, but surprisingly elevates the spirit as well. While many of their contemporaries spend their time bemoaning their existence, EVEN X paint a picture from a more honest palate, in life is neither black nor white, but rather a gothic shade of grey.
With riffs that are as a fluid as they are unapologetically heavy, air-tight grooves and raging vocals, the EVEN X sound demands a synergy among the players. They view their music as tool of communication; not between man and his state, but rather between man and his state of mind. Their aim is to facilitate an internal spiritual resolve; not as possessors of enlightenment, but rather as fellow travels on the oftentimes bumpy road of life. Songs such as “Chills,” “Chain Me Down,” and “Let The bi*** Come Up,” are damning charges against the religious leadership and advocate the necessity to cast them off in order to achieve spiritual solace. With the removal of the clergy from the process, the path to self-realization is explored in songs like “Searching,” “In My Rage” and the album’s title track, while “Awake” and “Enemy” look at the world through the newfound lens of self-awareness.
The issues that the band brings to the surface with Angry Mirror may not be pretty, but they are the ties that bind humanity together. The end result is an unforgettable journey that stays with you long after the album has left your CD player. In the process, EVEN X has created an album that will not only kick your ass, but haunt your soul.
