Now, " The Story behind the song " ...
" Never Forget " ... we MUST ... NEVER FORGET !
" Meet Me In The Park " - ( I'm On Angel's Wings ) ...
A Tribute in song, inspired by the Pentagon Memorial Park Project ...
All our lives were forever changed on 9/11 ... the tragic loss of lives has touched us all ... for me personally, often moving my heart & soul, to song ... leading to several Tribute songs.
I was first introduced to the Pentagon Memorial Park project, back in June 2005, after having met Mr. Abraham Scott when we performed for the Dedication Ceremony for the 9/11 Pen-t Memorial in Green Bay, Wisconsin, then later meeting Mrs. Rosemary Dillard & seeing Mr. Scott again on the 5th Anniversary of 9/11 for the Dedication Ceremony of America's 9/11 Victim's Memorial Quilt's induction into the World Trade Center museum.
Mr. Scott's wife Janice perished at the Pentagon on 9/11, Mrs. Dillard's husband Eddie was on American Airlines Flight 77 that crashed into the Pentagon ... they were among the 184 souls lost there that fateful day.
Those 184 souls lost there that day have often been on my heart & in our prayers ... as well as those left behind, especially, Colonel Torado, who was present on 9/11 at the Pentagon.
In Sept. 2004, Colonel Torado swore our youngest son, David ... into the Army at Fort Gillem, here in the local Atlanta area.
As she recalled the events of that tragic day, she was overcome with emotions, moving my heart & soul for all those lost.
Over the past several years, I had often visited the Pentagon Memorial Park's website, but, it was only recently...after having performed for the 25th Anniversary Events at The Vietnam Memorial Wall in Nov. '07 ...as we were flying home, leaving the D. C. area...I looked out my window from the plane, gazing down upon The Pentagon...that I suddenly was overcome with such a deep sense of loss, again.
Then, just a few days before Christmas... I had revisited the Pentagon Memorial Park's website again...captivated by the serenity of the planned park with it's 184 individual benches for each lost soul, inscribed with their respective names, and, individual relecting pools...among maple trees.
Although I had seen all the info, read it all many times ... this time, something happened.
I was overcome with emotions, and as I sat at my piano..."as the tears fell"... a new song was born from the depths of my heart & soul.
And, just a few days later, after having read about this young man's life, service, and, sacrifice ... God laid on my heart to Dedicate this song to ...
AG2 Matthew Michael Flocco - ( 21 ) U.S. Navy
Navy Aerographer's Mate 2nd Class Matthew Michael Flocco, formerly of Newark, DE, was tragically killed in the terrorist attack on the Pentagon September 11, 2001.
Matthew was a sailor for the United States Navy, specializing in weather for the Department of Defense.
He was a graduate of Newark High School and an avid baseball player.
Matthew joined the U.S. Navy after graduating.
After graduating boot camp and A school, Matthew was handpicked by an Admiral to an assignment at the Pentagon.
Matthew was an Aerographer's Mate and worked as part of the Meteorology and Oceanography department.
He was at work on the tragic morning of September 11, 2001 and was killed along with his shipmate and friend Edward Earhart. Matthew was a Second Class Petty Officer
AG2 Matthew Michael Flocco, died when American Airlines Flight 77 slammed into the Pentagon on September 11.
"Matthew died," his mother said, "doing what he loved most."
Highly respected for his good nature and exemplary meteorological skills, Matthew served at the National Ice Center, an operational center run by the Departments of Defense and Transportation in partnership with NOAA.
The Center helps safeguard ships in ice-covered waters. On and off duty, Matthew was close to his shipmates, sharing a love of baseball and music, especially the Phillies and Dave Matthews Band.
Matthew was about to begin off-duty college courses. Because of his passion for baseball, Matthew's family has established a fund to build a baseball field and sponsor Little League activities in his name.
Matt's father, Michael Flocco, a Delaware sheet-metal worker, has been helping rebuild the Pentagon in his son's honor ... helping reconstruct the place where his 21-year-old son died, installing the heating and air conditioning ducts in the renovated section of the Pentagon.
It is with the deepest heartfelt condolences & appreciation of Matt's life, service, sacrifice and of ALL the 184 souls lost ... and, The Pentagon Memorial Park project ...
I Dedicate this song to ... AG2 Matthew Michael Flocco - ( 21 ) U.S. Navy

" Meet Me In The Park "
( I'm On Angel's Wings )
Meet me ... in the park
Linger, for awhile.
Hold me ... in your thoughts
'Til the end ... of all time,
While I fly ... so high
No one ... can see.
* * *
I'm flying, I'm flying ...
I'm ... On Angel's Wings.
I miss you ... I wish you
Could see ... everything.
Heaven's ... before me
All the stars ... have passed by.
I'm flying ... on Angel's wings
To your side !
* * *
Meet me ... in the park
'Neath ... the shade of the trees
On that bench ... near the water,
I'll be the ... breeze.
While I fly ... so high
No one ... can see.
* * *
I'm flying, I'm flying ...
I'm ... On Angel's Wings.
I miss you ... I wish you
Could see ... everything.
Heaven's ... before me
All the stars ... have passed by.
I'm flying ... on Angel's wings
To your side !
* * *
Meet me ... in the park
Linger, for awhile.
Hold me ... in your thoughts
'Til the end ... of all time.
