A fusion of Agrotech, Industrial, Idm and Death metal. Dark symphonic instrumentals and bleak death growl vocals over pulsating mechanical beats.
Why this name?
I seen a television commercial about Ovarian Cancer treatment.... And the words Ovarian Cancer just stood out to me. Nothing special about the name. The name doesn't even define the music. It's just a name.
Do you play live?
I have not played any live shows yet. I will soon be opening for Illumira whenever they can get me a slot.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
Well for one, there is SO much variety! I know when I listen to the radio I hear the same song OVER AND OVER AND OVER AGAIN! Songs that were popular 20 years ago are still being played on repeat basically. There is no variation in the mainstream media. Not to mention that the music you hear on the radio and on television is controlled by the industry. They make us listen to what they want us to hear. On the internet you have the freedom to explore different genres of all types and I found that the radio sucks ass! I don't like anything I hear on the radio... Stick to the internet and listen to underground musicians. I guarantee you'll be impressed.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
I suppose it depends on what label and how much profit I would get from it. But probably not. I don't need a record label for people to enjoy my music. Just listen to it and f*** a record label. They will never define who I am or what I'm about. Only I will. And you can too. Besides, I enjoy sharing my music for free. It's never about the money. It's for the art of music, and for all that enjoy it.
Band History:
Well, there really is a long history. Since I'm the only one in the band I can only tell you about myself. I started making music when I was about 5 or 6 on a tiny kid sized keyboard. My father used to teach me Van Halen songs and those were the first songs I learned. Not that I'm a personal fan of Van Halen but when he was showing me how to play I learned that it's very easy for me to watch and learn. He showed me how to play one song and I picked it up almost immediatley. From then I was hooked. Making my own songs every day. Writing lyrics and all that fun stuff. Then when I was about 14-15 I joined a band my friends put together called "StereoType" We sucked hahaha. But it was still an oportunity for me to explore myself. I was the lead vocalist. We played a kind of pop rockish type deal. I did some live shows with them and they all went well. No Boos, so that's a good thing. Soon after I left the band at 16 I started playing the guitar. I just picked it up and started playing. Made my own song the first day and again I was impressed with my capabilities to easily learn something that takes people months or years. However I am not the best guitar player in the world. I'm decent, I'm fast, but I've never practiced enough to become professional. I just tinker around here and there and come up with something that sounds cool and call it a song. When I turned 18 I was sentenced to prison for 3 years for threatening to shoot up my high school. Yea I was a pretty crazy kid... And yes I had planned on following through. But I'm out of that mind set now. 3 years of isolation gives you a little clarity. However when I was incarcerated I played Bass guitar for a band in prison. I honestly can't even remember the band name. I played with a musician named Ryan Cozart who claimed to play guitar for Boba Flex.... Don't take my word for it. Like I said he "Claimed" I haven't found any proof of this yet but whatever. He was a pretty good musician and tought me a lot about composing songs so they sound.... more interesting. Simple things like adding a chorus and a bridge cause apparently my songs were too "repetative" And still they are to an extent if you take the vocals out of my music but I try and add variety to my songs. When I got released from prison I moved into a house with my girlfriend Melody who is now my wife. My friends all use a music program called "Fruity Loops" and like anything else I decided to test my capabilities. THe first song I made with the program was Doom 3. The name again has nothing to do with the song. Just a name that I should probably change for copy-write purposes. And I'll probably change it before I release my first album for that reason. They like to f*** you for little sh*** like that. From then on I've been making music with "Fruity Loops" to this day advancing in my talents to create music that for me gets stuck in my head and makes me want to hear it over and over again. I can only hope that it has the same influence on my listeners. And that's about all there is to know about me. F*** off!
Your influences?
Well I regret saying this but, Psyclon Nine was my influence to begin writing electronic music. I say I regret this as I messaged Nero Bellum the lead vocalist of Psyclon Nine letting him know that he was a big influence for me in writing my music. I shared a few of my songs on his page and all of a sudden people started listening and liking them. Shortly after Nero deleted all my posts and unfriended me for what reason? I think I was stealing his attention. So now there is an invisible feud between him and I. But if you would like to share your music on my facebook page feel free! I'm not in it for the attention.. Well kind of but mostly just for the art of music. My other influences from my childhood range from Arch Enemy, Dimmu Borgir, Behemoth, Strapping Young Lad, Necrophagist, anything with scream or growl and dudududududududududududududududu double bass
Favorite spot?
My favorite spot or city? Hmm..... Well..... Not the city I live in hahaha. I can't say that I've been anywhere yet that has calmed my soul to a halt or somewhere that I feel apart from the rest of the world.. So at this moment my favorite spot is inside my own head
Equipment used:
A shitty computer with a shitty processor.... You have no idea how hard it is to mix songs with constant lagging every 3 seconds. Fruity Loops, Sytris, Massive, Magnus Choir, some other cool plugins and a shorted out microphone that I got from best buy for 20 bucks. The life of a musician! So many struggles
