Why this name?
Asher BenRubi (Adam Smasher) helped name the band and spent some time as a front man and lead singer.
Band History:
The Champion Band was the most dynamic and entertaining act in the Midwest and Southeast United States during the mid to late 70s. It was a well oiled machine that clicked in all aspects of Rock n' Roll performance. Charlie Kendal and Lo Woods spent the time to get the guitar section right, Bob Jones was a musical virtuoso of sorts and an authoritative front man, Bruce "Snooky" Koons held his own as a bassist and could sing any harmony part no matter how high and "Beaugie" David Waite pushed it all forward with incredible force as a drummer and the main lead singer. In addition to the playing and singing skills of everyone on the stage, the band also set the standard for stage movement, choreography and showmanship throughout the region.
