I grew up in Missouri and began playing the piano at age 7. When I turned 18, I moved to Colorado to study jazz and composition at the Lamont School of Music, a college of the University of Denver. In 2006, I shifted my focus to primarily contemporary composition at Goddard College, where I received a BA and am working on an MFA. I compose for a wide variety of instruments and settings, but recently released an album packed full of my original solo piano compositions called Reverie. I continue to work on new projects and will be releasing an album of small ensemble pieces and an album of piano/water music shortly.
Do you play live?
I play live worldwide but live in Denver, CO.
Your influences?
I take my compositional influence primarily from my daily life and from nature. I am fortunate to live near the beautiful Rocky Mountains which are always a huge inspiration for me. I love any new minimalist contemporary composer and am particularly influenced by Phillip Glass, Morton Feldman, Rachel Grimes, Arvo Part, and many others.
Equipment used:
Favorite piano is the Bosendorfer Imperial Grand
