Last year one day while riding in the car on the way to church, pieces of a new name started to come to me. After piecing everything together, the name that came to me was JCiliom. JCiliom is an acronym for Jesus Christ is living inside of me. This is not just words put together, but it is a way of life for me and those who I have worked with like Karma and Likewise. So at this point, George Casino is dead. I am now and forever will be JCiliom. I am not about bringing fame, stardom, nor money, etc. to myself. I am doing this because I have been blessed to be a blessing to others, to minister through my music to turn sinners to God, to give all thanks, honor, and glory to God while building up the Kingdom of Heaven.
Why this name?
This name came to me one day on the way to church. I chose this name because it represents truth, who I am, what I stand for, and who I stand for.
Do you play live?
Not yet.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
I think the internet has changed the music industry dramatically. Artists, as well as producers are able to promote themselves and their music on various websites. They are also able to put videos on sites like Soundclick, YouTube, MySpace, etc. that will promote them even farther. The artists and producers are also able to make their own webpages to get their music out.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Most definitely. I would like to work with a major label if they gave me a chance to.
Band History:
George Young was born on August 10, 1978. He is a Christian hip hop producer from Atlanta, by way of Toledo, Ohio. He began writing songs in high school from poems that he had written. But he had associations with the wrong people and his dreams of becoming a songwriter came to a sudden stop.
There is something to be said about a man that goes through hell in his life and comes out in one piece. His story needs to be told in order to set the stage for his current venture in life.
“I could have stayed in gangs, drank alcohol, and smoked weed while watching my life slowly come to an end. On a highway from jail to hell would have been my life sentence. War wounds from being crushed and bruised by my mother’s abusive boyfriends – to get knocked down never to get back up again.” He even thought about ending it all, figuring that death would release him from this hell on earth. The Lord Jesus Christ came into his life at that point, knowing that God said that He would never leave him. Now by His grace and mercy, he stands because he can do all things through Christ who strengthens him. This was when JCiliom was born.
In June, 2006 JCiliom was in a tragic car accident where he fractured his skull in two places, broke his left leg, his right arm, the front bone on his forehead and punctured his left lung. He was unconscious for two weeks. After years of rehabilitation and healing, he began his career as a music producer and as an up and coming artist in the Christian Music arena. He has worked with Christian artist such as Karma and Likewise. His production style is smooth and laid back. His messages are soulful, thought provoking and spiritual.
His debut CD, “JCiliom, Do You See What I see, Instrumentals Vol. 1” is an collection of instrumentals dedicated to his cousin, whom he grew up with. His cousin was in an altercation where he almost lost his life. This CD was arranged in the abstract, giving his audience the freedom to interpret at will. He uses creative drum kits and melodies with other electronic devices to represent who JCiliom is. This CD is a work of art and he in retrospect, is a work in progress.
