Band History:
BANG sugar BANG. Evocative words for an evocative band. The pop-punk threesome's story began face-down on the pavement outside a Detroit club, where drummer Pawley Filth (ex- Jimmy Hoffa Experience) and guitarist Matt Southwell (ex-Coloring Book, Leather David's All Sausage Orchestra) met after they both had been unceremoniously jettisoned for pelting Ted Nugent with beer bottles. They discovered in each other a common love of old school punk rock as well as public nudity and the lost art of piñata building, and set out to form a band that would… ' bend spoons without touching them.'

Two weeks after relocating to Hollywood, CA., they met Seattle-born bassist/ siren, Cooper (ex- She Hounds, Sorority Cruise Missiles) after taking jobs making erotic jello molds. She invited them to the Sunset Strip on a mission to pelt a limosine owned by N'SYNC with beer bottles…naked. She was perfect.

The next night they placed a blender in the middle of the room. In it, Matt threw tapes of the Jam, the Damned, the Clash and Bowie. Cooper threw in the Pixies, X, the Velvet Underground and the Buzzcocks. Finally, Pawley threw in an armload of unlabeled cassettes (he never labels them) that he was pretty sure were compilations of various and sundry unsigned Bay area punk bands. Praying that there were no Eagles songs on any of Pawley's "mystery tapes", they turned the blender on. It shook, sputtered, shorted-out and started a small, very, very smelly fire. It was a sign. The band was born.

The Hollywood underground responded to their sound immediately. After becoming a favorite of the arty, Silverlake- area, after-hours shows, they moved their three-ring -circus to clubs like Goldfingers, the Garage, and the famed Whisky A Go-Go. The band's bullshitfree approach to honest pop/ punk had set it's own very, very smelly fire (their destruction of a life-size piñata of Desi Arnaz has become the stuff of local legend).

Currently, their momentum continues to build. An ever-growing very, very smelly fire. The band has formed it's own record label ,War Room Records, to release not only their own material, but other local bands as well. They have self-published their own material through their publishing company, Eat the Baby Music, ASCAP. In addition, they started LA's premier power-pop/ punk club, Kiss or Kill, with brother band Silver Needle. The club is dedicated to fostering LA's underground music scene. Also, their music can be heard nationally on XM Satelite Radio and on Clear Channel's New Music Network. BANG sugar BANG is certainly a musical force to be reckoned with. It's amazing what a great record collection, a blender, a love of chucking bottles at people who suck and three people incurably in love with music can yield.

Well, I'm thinkin' but I'm not on my feet.
Now I'm up." - BANG sugar BANG
